True, but it's a little different since Chicago always was kind of a home away from home for them and is within a reasonable enough distance of Minneapolis that their fans there could've still made it. But Riot Fest is the biggest punk/pop-punk festival in the country, so I do think it'd make sense for STD to end there. It'll either be there or NYC I'd say.

Agreed on ETID, and the Menzingers played last year, so they're definitely out. Pup will be on it this year or next year I'm sure.

I can see Gaslight, Menz, ManOrch and Japandroids all going to Lolla this year but I would much prefer them at Riot

I really, really, really, really think Gaslight is going to do Riot Fest - I feel like that's way more of their core audience. All of the other three will probably do Lolla though, especially Menz, since they played last year.

Really, the only certainties to me at this point are GWAR and Andrew WK. Because history.

My friend said he heard something on the radio than Manchester confirmed they'd be at Lolla, idk but it seems legit since they've been scheduled on the big festivals this summer.

With Slayer doing a farewell tour, I wonder if they'll make a final Riot Fest appearance.

Chicago date in May so very unlikely

^i'd actually like that since their chicago area date on the "farewell" tour is the friday of memorial day weekend when i'm going to be in baltimore. le sigh.

but that's for another music festival so i really shouldn't complain about not being able to buy lawn seats to see a show in tinley park.

I would put money on Gaslight being at Riot Fest, and certainly listed as one of the "10 albums." I would be legit shocked if they did Lolla over Riot. I'd be more inclined to say Gaslight would be at Lolla if they were playing a bunch of other bigger festivals, but thus far it's just Governor's Ball (which is a "local" gig for them still, I think) so I'd imagine the other shows they're doing will be one-offs or other festival bills that just seemed like fun. Given why the band went on hiatus initially, I'm just assuming that's the approach they'll be taking on whatever dates they have this year.

Given the other festivals booked, I'd say Manchester Orchestra is a lock for Lollapalooza. Japandroids I could see going either way.

Oh I didn't realize they already announced their dates. Can't honestly say I care either way haha

Is Jimmy Eat World possible, or does that headliner in May count them out?

They could still play, but I don't know if they will or not.

The Gaslight Anthem is playing at the Riviera Theater in Chicago, playing The 59 Sound in full, on 8/11. Not sure how this will affect their chances of playing Riot?

I'm guessing it rules them out completely. That show is way too close to Riot for them to do both. Now wondering if that Governor's Ball thing was an understated exclusive.

...Bummed as fuck I won't get a chance to see any of these shows.

Frank Turner is out. Playing the Aragon on June 23rd, and out-of-country the weekend of the festival.

Curious, though: Assuming he weren't going to be out of the country. For someone like him (who tours regularly, isn't on a reunion run or whatever) would a show in June at a venue that size rule him out? I would guess "yes," but curious what others think.

I'd say it makes him less likely, but doesn't rule him out. I think radius clauses and things like that are a bigger deal for headliners. Since this show is on sale so long before Riot Fest will announce their lineup, it has a chance to sell out/sell most its tickets before he's even announced for RF.

Still though, will he really have a reason?

Also wow good for him, I'm a little surprised he's playing that big of a room. He must be getting a much bigger following over here.

I think by himself he wouldn't play Aragon but him Lucero and Menz all have a very strong following

I think Lucero has enough of a base and the Menz have made a huge surge to justify booking the Aragon.

Though weirdly enough I've never been to the Aragon so I can't visualize how filled up it either will or won't be, lol.

MENZINGERS?? I wasn't sure if I was going for sure or not, but looks like I am! Yea I could see that being enough to tip them over. I think he did 2 nights at HOB last time, so him plus the Menzingers would help fill the room, even if it doesn't sell out. I don't know anything about Lucero.

Lol yep. I know of those HOB dates sold out last year too.

Also I can't believe you haven't been to Aragon. One of the cooler venues in the city, especially out of the bigger ones.

Idk it and the Riv have always had more expensive shows since they are bigger rooms, combined with the fact they are the most difficult to get to from the burbs, so i've never been to either.
