No idea. I just know that they're vaguely baseball-related. But for comedy sake? I'm just going to assume you're totally ignorant, and you're referring to Reel Big Fish.

Just remember that “Riot Fest” is an anagram for “Test For I”. Patience is a virtue friends.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

So is “Fri Totes” which means we totally should be getting 2nd wave on Friday

What if this is just the way Fugazi wants to be announced? You know "I'm a patient boy. I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait."

I'm traveling from out of state and I've had my full weekend booked for a while. But I saw someone on Twitter mentioned that they have now passed the threshold on when they could take off of work to go to Riot Fest. They only wanted to go for 1-2 days but needed to know which days to take off......and now it's too late for them to take off.

It amazes me that this lineup still isn't broken up by day yet.

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

Bring Me the Horizon just announced their tour. Dates start in November, and they play Chicago in February.

I don't think they are the third headliner.

Well, there goes that theory. Back to the drawing board...

It blows my mind that people would travel to a festival and only attend one day. Especially something like Riot Fest. I don't know that I've ever looked at the day-by-day breakdowns and thought, "Man, there's nothing I'd want to see on (insert day of the week here)." There's inevitably days that are weaker than others, for sure, but not to the point where I would choose not to attend if I were going to be in town anyway.

But yeah, we're hitting the point where even folks right in the area might struggle to attend if they only want to see a specific headliner, go for one day, etc. And that's NOT a good spot to be in for the fest. We're roughly 3 weeks out...

This seems horrifically badly organised. Like, unprofessionally bad.

Oh yeah I'm talking about the locals. Those coming out of state are going for the whole weekend. But I'm sure there's a decent amount of locals that haven't taken off yet because they would only go to 1-2 days for certain bands. Some workplaces require at least 3 weeks notice to take off.

Nah. "Unprofessionally bad" was Rockfest a few years back when the first band started playing and gates hadn't even opened yet. And the year before that, when the headliner's stage set-up caused the first two bands on the main stage to have to reshuffle to different stages, etc... And thank goodness, because the lines were so long and the ticket takers didn't have their shit together.

I'll take a "delayed" rollout of some additional bands (note: they never set a date for when it all would be announced, so technically there's no "delay") over a logistical nightmare that fucks up my ability to see the bands the day-of.

I bought my ticket for the show, not the social media rollout (although that's fun to speculate on; thus, this thread).

I definitely think the slower than usual rollout of the additional info is hurting them, but I wouldn't call it unprofessional...

Yeah, I don't know what the norm is for time off, but if I had to guess I would say that three weeks is the "average."

Let's remember a simpler time. Almost a month ago when we used to be hopeful

"Moving forward from this, we can go about announcing all of the stuff you’ve been patiently waiting for. That all starts this Thursday when we announce the 2018 Full Album Plays and will continue into the weeks to come as we unveil the final wave of artists, the daily lineups and schedules, the Late Night club show series and more."

Also what kind of bullshit it "Riot Fest has always been about the fans" if they can't even give us an update at this point?

If we don't get it today, I'd imagine we're not getting it until at least next week again.

    Just give me SOMETHING.

im sort of surprised Consequence of Sound, chicago reader, Tribune, or anything like that havent tried to look into it yet, surely as publications who frequently report on this festival they would have noticed all the delays, weirdness and animosity percolating online

Some people can't take off Thursday and Friday to come to a festival. That's why two-day passes are usually sold for Riot Fest.

Add my girlfriend to the list. She makes the schedule for her employer and she's just decided to take the weekend off not knowing what day we would go but if it wasn't for that we wouldn't be going at all.

    Agreed.

They all get exclusives so if they do anything to report anything negative about the festival they hurt themselves.

I bet we get the full line up in the next 3 weeks. Let the countdown commence
