I don't think there's any way that Husker Du would be top-top billing. Easily a 2nd or 3rd line act, though. They aren't the most famous band in the world, but... Direct support for whoever headlines that night, easily. Based solely on rarity and cred. But it's definitely one of those things where if they started playing shows more regularly there's no way they'd be so high up (see also: The Descendents).

It'd be nowhere near the level of buzz they got for Jawbreaker, the Misfits, and/or the Replacements but it would be a major get, for sure.

I have no doubt about that! But to their credit? Riot Fest has done a better job than most festivals at keeping things fresh each year--and frankly, keeping it surprising for the fans. Most years I think people are taken a back by the top 3 lines of the bills. Even if it's not specifically my thing I find myself saying: "Well, that's pretty cool!"

We'll see. In thinking on it more... I wonder if this might be the year for Tool.

This would be great and seems like a definite "big riot fest reunion"

I honestly hope we never get Tool, but it seems like it'll happen one day.

Tool is a good headliner because then I can just leave early which is always nice

First of all: How the shit did you do that?

Second of all: I didn't even think about Arctic Monkeys. Good pick! I'm not particularly into them, but they'd be a solid headlining pick...

    A few thoughts:

    - Dramarama would be a really great "new wave/80s" pick; not quite the draw that last years were but... I'd be super into it
    - Will Smith & DJ Jazzy Jeff would be a great wild card pick
    - I love you for lumping Goldfinger, MxPx, and H2O together like that
    - I'm going to go ahead and guess that Charly Bliss MIGHT be on Lolla this year, but if not? Lock for a side-stage mid day performance
    - Tsunami Bomb and Zebrahead would be the best
    - No way BTMI! does a set (but I bet Jeff Rosenstock plays)

has Jeff said, for the most part, that BTMI is never happening again

I don't think they will never play a show again but his solo career is going extremely well so I doubt it happens any time soon. If they do a reunion set it'd be at Fest for sure

Neither am i...but i couldn't think of an "indie rock" act. Killers does make sense, but idk, i dont see it for some reason.

and the will smith thing is a total shot in the dark. i know nothing about rap, but i know they want more 80s/90s type rap/hip hop..and they've pretty much done everyone else. (NWA?)

the one band i'd personally love to see is 311. It could not make more sense. It's the 25th anniversary of the bands 1st album, 30th anniversary of the band first meeting, a band that's NEVER played riot before...i thnk they'd be a unique add. A band that's still relevant, bring in a crowd etc etc

  18. Bands I'm hopeful for/think are plausible:

    Gaslight Anthem
Op Ivy (Ok not PLAUSIBLE but possible/a boy can dream)
    Against Me!
    Jeff Rosenstock/Chris Farren/Antarctigo Vespucci
    Dirty Nil
    Pkewx3
    Smash Mouth
    Descendents
    Frank Turner
    Japandroids
    JEW
    Pup

I can definitely see them as second to last on the main stage, and potentially doing an album. They would be a solid add, and depending on who the headliner is could fit well alongside a variety of acts from rock to metal to hip-hop.

Similar thought: What about the Chili Peppers as a headliner? Riot has a tendency to pull in acts on "off" years, and using the fact that it's their only US show or whatever as a selling point...

    Here we go again...
