Two years in a row on rainy days I just wrapped a pint or two in rolled up rain jacket I held in my hand going through security. Didn't go last year so dunno if it had changed.

 

I assume what you guys are talking about is what I would call a pint. Even though I think that's just my own made up term for it. I usually have luck putting one of those in the front of my pants held in place by my belt. Security never pats down that area for obvious reasons. It can just be tricky getting it to lay right so it doesn't stick out in an obvious way.

In 24 hours, Riot Fest 2017 is officially underway. What time is everyone rolling in tomorrow?

 

Appreciate all the advice! Thinking that rolling up a water bottle of booze is the way to go!

I kinda think any ideas that Frank would have to sneak booze into the fest would be an idea I wouldn't want to follow, lol.

THAT SAID, I'll be showing up to the pizza party with a fuckin rum ham. Hawaiian pizza, but instead of canadian bacon it's rum ham (this actually sounds good right?)

 

I'm driving the six hours to Chicago after I get done with work tonight, hoping to get in around midnight or so!

 

Fair point. Getting caught sneaking in booze = your booze gets confiscated no big deal. Pulling off a Frank plan = kicked out of the fest & police likely called.

 

It's odd, we use the metric system but we refer to bottles of booze based on the number of ounces. I.e. a "twenty-sixer", "forty" or "sixty." We also call the big novelty size bottles of booze that are 120 ounces a "texas mickey." You can't make this stuff up.

 

Pint and 16 ounces is pretty interchangeable in the states. We definitely say 40 or 24 ounces as well. The big debate here is the term, "tall boy". That gets used for a variety of can sizes.

Checked into our hotel in Chicago and got an upgraded room so already a good start to the weekend.

 

After an annoying flight out of Baltimore with multiple delays, we are finally in our hotel! Headed to the Cubs game tonight so I'm pretty stoked for that.
Hope everyone traveling today had/is having an easier time getting here than us, lol

 

Would seriously consider upgrading to VIP except none of my friends would do it lol. Anyone vouch for how worth it it is?

 

Unfortunately, I'm sad that I'm not going to be able to make any of the Riot Fest festivities this weekend because of some personal conflicts despite living in the near suburbs. :( If any of y'all are going to the Sheer Mag show on Friday, perhaps I'll see you there.

 

On my way to dinner, then that Ataris pre-show and the Jawbreaker screening later tonight.

I like it. Was more worth it a few years back when you got 12 drink tickets and viewing areas near the stages... But it's worth it for me to have the quicker lines for entry, beverages, and restrooms throughout the weekend. Just makes it all less stressful so I can stay focused on enjoying the music.

I'd suggest it way more strongly if you still got a bunch of drink tickets.

Whatever Cobra Lounge has. Hah. I meant to hit up one of my favorit spots (Au Cheval, Three Dots And A Dash) but opted for an afternoon nap instead.

Just too lazy to explore and don't feel like waiting to eat anywhere, really.

 

That's more than reasonable. We've got a long week ahead of us. I still haven't been to Au Cheval smh at myself.

I got in today and went to Giordano's on a friend's recommendation. Pretty great. Gonna catch a movie and call it a night at the hotel. I'm so stoked for tomorrow!

So bummed I'm going to miss the festival today. While the Rejects and Buzzcocks are playing I am going to be a slave to the man at work haha. Looking forward to the NFG show tonight to get things started.
