Was the map released the week of in prior years? I swear it was up at least a week or two in prior years

Don't they usually release the map before the schedule? And the food vendors?

What are some good bars to go to? We aren't planning on going to any after shows but we definitely want to go out one of the nights we're there.

Boiler Room and Five Star Bar are usually my go to's and have a lot of Riot Fest people at them

The Owl is cool because it's open until 4 and I usually end up there just for that

I'm getting super into The Smith Street Band this last week, hot damn. Not sure how I slept on this one for so long.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

There's a metric fuck ton of decent bars in Chicago. It really depends on what you're looking for - good drink specials, chill vibes, live tunes, Chicago handshake access, whiskey selection, etc. I'll just give a general rundown of some of my faves in the city:

-Delilah's in Lincoln Park (punk-rock bar with 700+ types of whiskey available that'll likely be showing 70s B-movies on TV unless there's a Bills/Sabres game on or there's some other themed night going on)
-Boiler Room in Logan Square (unless the price has changed since the last time I was there, the $8.50 PB and J special ain't anything to scoff at. PBJ = slice of pizza, a PBR, and a shot of Jameson).
-Emporium/Headquarters/Logan Hardware (because I love me a good barcade - Logan Hardware is my favorite of the bunch because of the focus on old school arcade games and pinball machines).
-G-Man Tavern in Wrigleyville (the anti-Wrigleyville punk rock bar)
-Longman & Eagle in Logan Square (Michelin-star rated food with a great whiskey selection to boot)
-Kuma's in Avondale (metal-themed burger joint with a great tap selection; also locations in Lincoln Park, West Loop, and Schaumburg if you're staying out that away, but nothing beats the original IMO).
-Map Room in Logan Square (great beer selection, chill vibes)
-Forbidden Root/Revolution/Half Acre/Lagunitas/Haymarket/Dovetail/Hopewell/et. al (all good places for beer straight from the source, some serve food).

It's not Riot Fest if it doesn't turn into a swamp by the end of the weekend.

Yea and it sucked, didn't feel like Riot Fest at all

Lol jk it was great. Hopefully the forecast changes, but if not, I always just hope that it's not bad enough to cause any evacuations.

Yeah just gotta prepare. At least it's happening Sunday so we have two good days lol

The year it rained on Friday ruined the whole weekend

Haha honestly 2013 is simultaneously my favorite Riot Fest and also the absolute shittiest. We talk all the time about that god forsaken layout, but it wouldn't have been half as bad if it wasn't for that Friday downpour.

Unrelated but damn I'm getting so excited. I really can't believe it's this weekend.

The weather has changed slightly every single day for the past week, haha. @Pokinatcha Punk knows what he's talking about. What I'm looking at now says scattered rain/thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon with Sunday being in the clear. It'll probably change a few times between now and Friday.

Map looks easy to navigate. Would make my weekend just a bit smoother if the Rise/Radical stages were flip-flopped to make it quicker getting to the Heather Owen Stage. But whatever.

Very grateful that the Menz will be playing on the closes stage to the Flats on the far stage
