Tweet hadn't even loaded before I knew what this was. Amazing news! Looks like we get our wish about the aftershows.

Flipping the script, and getting us the schedule way way earlier than usual! Even before the aftershows... Though, to be honest, that makes more sense anyway.

It'll be good to know what days I might want to leave early and plan around that.

Spoiler alert: Nine Inch Nails are amazing live, but I could easily be dragged away by a smaller club show by almost any one of the "punk rock" acts. Hah.

Right? I'm particularly nervous about Sunday, but... If your biggest problem is having to choose between seeing the Menzingers or Hot Water Music or whatever? It's a pretty good day to be alive. Haha.

Also: If that's the case, I'd probably wind up splitting the set 50-50. Praying for staggered set times on the stages.

I'm seeing Hot Water Music at Fest so they're a pretty low priority since I know that set will blow the Riot Fest one out of the water haha

But yes! I'm excited. I think Saturday has potential to upset me more conflicts wise. I just need to make sure I can see The Lawrence Arms, Smith Street, Streetlight, FIDLAR and Bayside the rest of my day is fine

Hot Water Music may have a full tour planned to coincide with the album but I'd still prioritize them due to the recent inactivity. Think I've managed to see The Menzingers every year since like 2013 without trying particularly hard (including in about a month).

I just need to be able to see Nine Inch Nails, FIDLAR, QOTSA, Paramore, Bad Brains, Taking Back Sunday, Menzingers, Hotelier, Say Anything, and Bayside with no conflicts at all and I'll be set. I don't think that's too much to ask. If I can throw in Jawbreaker too, that'd be ideal.

(And Smith Street Band too I just remembered).

Fair point about the Fest set versus Riot Fest. I saw them at the 10-year Fest anniversary where they did a joint encore with the Bouncing Souls and it was amazing...

I'm not so concerned about Saturday. For headliners, QOTSA looks like they could go "no contest" against anybody I need to see, though I'd be bummed if Gogol Bordello was conflicting. Would be cool to see ATDI but I won't lose any sleep about missing them.

So long as the Lawrence Arms don't conflict with Bayside, I'll be fine with whatever to varying degrees. But I'm really hoping to see Taking Back Sunday, New Found Glory, Bad Brains, Dead Cross, Fishbone, RVIVR, and Potty Mouth.

Oh yeah. Forgot about the early winter Hot Water Music tour... That I have a ticket to. Hah! But I've seen the Menzingers three times already this year... But anyway. I doubt they'd conflict.

Do we even know how many stages there's going to be yet this year?

Are the 3-day GA passes sold out? I'm just seeing the 3-day VIP ones online

Either one less stage or everyone is getting longer set times. I wonder if they're cutting one of the adjacent small stages and moving some of those bands up to the early slots on some of the bigger stages.

I'm guessing we get two "main stage" pairings and one side/second stage. I did the math at one point, and I think that's what it mapped out two looking at previous years and the number of bands per stage per day.

I want to go to this after hearing NIN's new EP and Queen's new album but after beating the shit out of myself at Lolla I don't know if my old ass can handle another festival so soon.

Hmm so basically the 2015 lay out, minus one of the side stages. That would actually make a lot of sense and could help a lot with noise bleed.

Although I'm wondering now too if it's possible that they still have 6 stages and just cut a couple of them earlier in the day, because I was looking back and realized they've already cut from 7 to 6 stages. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

IMO Riot Fest is a lot less physically tasking. Weather isn't as hot, there's not as far of a distance to travel between stages, and it's much easier to get out at the end of the night. Plus the 4th day of Lolla makes a huge difference. The festival itself has a more peaceful feeling to me because it just feels more open too. (Which is kind of funny considering the music is way more aggressive and people would think of a punk festival as being a wild thing).

I've gone 2014 and 16, both times getting them a couple days before. I have my flights booked already and I'm planning to do the same thing this year, pretty confident it won't be an issue. Craigslist and eBay are always chock full. I bought them for my whole party (6 people) last year for 120-160 max a pop.

I think every band I want to see has some sort of overlap? What are the distances between stages usually like?

Some annoying conflicts, but overall not too bad.

X/Radar State: I'll probably watch Radar State and the end of X.
Ministry/The Cribs: A few minutes of Ministry, then all of the Cribs.
Bad Brains/Bayside and Potty Mouth: First bit of Bayside, check out Bad Brains and if they're decent live? I'll stay.
QOTSA/Taking Back Sunday: Definitely QOTSA, but it bums me out.
Prophets of Rage and Jawbreaker/Paramore: I may bail on Prophets' set to see some of Paramore before Jawbreaker, but that'll probably be a gameday decision.
