I DONT FUCKING GET IT EITHER!!! I always say festivals should do MORE collabs...MORE fun stuff with guest spots and they never do. It might be hard to put it together at times, but come on haha

Yeah, I'm right there with you. It's also a way to help make the band's appearance feel more "special." I guess Riot Fest kind of does that with the album plays and like, Taking Back Sunday randomly playing the tiny stage last year, but...

I always thought it was cool that Bamboozle did that Hoodwink thing, where one day of the festival was 100% bands covering other bands. Anti-Flag doing the Clash, the Ataris doing the Misfits, Set Your Goals doing Nirvana/Foo Fighters, Bayside doing NOFX, New Found Glory doing Green Day... I'm sure it's a lot of work for the bands to do those "special" sets too, but it's pretty fun in the moment. The Fest does a lot of that too now, which is neat...

But yeah. I was actually looking at the line-up and I can't think of any collaborations I'd want to see? Haha. My all-time favorite was at the Fest 10 when the Bouncing Souls and Hot Water Music closed the night by playing a few songs together on-stage.

For a few years the bamboozle festival got it 100% right on how to make a festival truly a unique experience. Hoodwinkd with the all covers was amazing. I still have nfg playing green day as one of my 5 favorite set lists of all time. It was beautiful.

Plus boozle did things like get weird al... mc hammer... kesha multiple days... fake band names....

    It was so much fun.

And then the guy had a hard time booking bands in advance...got too cute with pre festival announcements...had other various problems and fell apart

But for about 4 years...it was perfect stuff

To be fair to the artists… they're usually bombarded with press at these types of things. So while you might think they're only working for a 30 minute - 1 hour 30 timeframe, there's usually a bunch of interviews they have to do, some other press things, as well as set-up, prep for the set, set-down, as well as actually catching the bands they like and getting some time to rest when they want.

Yeah, they did some weird shit. And I mean that in a good way. Haha. I only went in 2009 but it was a blast.

Oh, for sure! It's also a shit-ton more work to pull together a "special" set or whatever, rather than just playing a 'standard' set. I get it. I wasn't complaining about the lack off it (or at least I didn't mean to)... I just think it's really cool when it happens.

Yeah they headlined their stage on Saturday night in 2015. Then the next day they were a "surprise band" on one of the smaller stages of the fest. Played 30 min of essentially just greatest hits.

Awesome! Earlier than I would have anticipated, but I would imagine they're going to see an uptick in ticket sales once they announce the single days for this year.

That means the last two albums should be coming too, right?

Friday is the only day I care about. NIN, Hotelier, Mayday Parade, DFA1979.

I'll have to check out DFA1979. I'm definitely not staying for the headliner on Friday but I'm excited for Hotelier and CHON. Don't care for Mayday really. I want to check out Vic Mensa as well

Friday is my weakest day. Saturday is strong, but doesn't have a lot of "must-watch" potential conflicts from my perspective. Sunday, on the other hand...

    Friday:
Nine Inch Nails, New Order, Ministry, X, the Cribs, Buzzcocks, the Hotelier, and Radar State

Saturday: Queens of the Stone Age, Wu-Tang Clan, Gogol Bordello, Taking Back Sunday, New Found Glory, Fidlar, Bad Brains, the Lawrence Arms, Bayside, Streetlight Manifesto, Shabazz Palaces, Fishbone, RVIVR, the Smith Street Band, Potty Mouth

Sunday: Jawbreaker, Paramore, Prophets of Rage, M.I.A., Dinosaur Jr., Pennywise, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Best Coast, Say Anything, the Menzingers, GWAR, Hot Water Music, Andrew W.K., Beach Slang, Mad Caddies, the Flatliners, Dessa, and Culture Abuse

Saturday: Wu-Tang Clan, Mike D, At The Drive In, Gogol Bordello, Taking Back Sunday, New Found Glory, Fidlar, the Lawrence Arms, Bayside, Streetlight Manifesto, Knuckle Puck the Smith Street Band, Potty Mouth

Friday: NIN, New Order, A Day to Remember, Vic Mensa, Mayday Parade, Chon, the Hotelier, Grayscale [I really hope VIc Mensa gets an early evening slot instead, of getting put against NIN or New Order; I'd guess ADTR closes a stage, but I could also see them playing a 6 pm slot on the stage before NIN and then New Order playing the adjacent stage between those two or something like that].

Saturday: QOTSA, Wu Tang, ATDI, Danzig, Taking Back Sunday, FIDLAR, Bad Brains, the Lawrence Arms, Bayside, Smith Street Band [Will this be the year I finally attend a full TBS set? Probably not, but I hope they don't close a side stage again.]

Sunday: Paramore, Jawbreaker, Prophets of Rage, MIA, Dinosaur JR., Pennywise, Built To Spill, Cap 'N Jazz, Minus the Bear, Say Anything, the Menzingers, GWAR, Andrew WK, the Flatliners, That Dog. [Holy hell this day is stacked. Easily my favorite. I had PTO scheduled Friday, but depending on the Friday schedule I may just work that day and take Monday off instead to recover because there's no way I'm not going to wear myself out on Sunday. Also I'm really curious how those top 4 names on Sunday work out. I really hope they don't put Paramore against Jawbreaker. I could see Paramore @ 6, Prophets of Rage on adjacent stage between them and Jawbreaker, and MIA playing on a different stage during PoR, but that's assuming Jawbreaker unopposed, which I think could happen].

Yeah Madonn that Sunday lineup. And Saturday is great too. I'm gonna have to get a two-day and even if I'm not working in Chicago I'll fly in for this.

Plz don't put Paramore against MIA though I realllly wanna see both now that I know they aren't going up against QOTSA.

I doubt Paramore will play up against Jawbreaker. I'm guessing it will be Prophets of Rage or M.I.A. who go up against part of their set (if anything at all).

I have my fingers crossed that Prophets of Rage/Jawbreaker don't overlap, but it seems like it could happen if they do have bands overlapping.
