I really thought the Super Bowl was Explosions in the Sky, but those tour dates have me excited that it COULD be American Football. They are so long overdue. Really my biggest hopes based on hints would be:

Morrissey
Brand New
American Football

And I have a million hopes in general, but who knows what will play out. I really really really want The Promise Ring.

 

Has anyone done any full lists of what they want yet? I feel like last year we all had dream lineups in the thread. I also have not had the patience to fill out the top 20 for that contest. That seems impossible.

 

Well, the biggest reason it's been so long is because that festival downstate had an exclusive for the year they came back.

I say downstate like people understand what I mean.

 

That top 20 contest is some lame shit. No one will get all 20 right.

 

Jack the Ripper could be Morrissey or Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds too. I was thinking Fireworks (reunion), but AF or EITS make way more sense

 

Jack The Ripper is a tough one to figure out since so many bands apply.

I don't see how Brand New makes any sense. They're playing Chicago on 7/2....

 

If it's a full album set they would negotiate that narrow exclusivity window.

Really every year I am worried that they've run out of bands for me, and then every year it's perfect, but I can't take the suspense!! I also do not want to have to go to Atlanta...

 

That's the festival! Yes, they had an exclusive for that to be the only Illinois festival they played that year.

What is the radius clause exactly though? That would be more than 60 days. It's all a mystery. The Hush Sound would also be amazing, and they are playing in June I think. Who knows if they want to do festivals at this point.

 

That whole lineup is my dream. I'll just be in Atlanta a few weeks later for Dragon Con, then RF, then a trip to Ireland with my father a week later. I cannot afford/survive another festival in that time period. Hoping the announcement tomorrow satisfies it for me.

 

Got it. I ended up having to pass on ATL because I can't afford a 1500 trip when I'm also doing New Orleans and might be moving to a new place in Chicago.

 

Wrecking Ball (which takes place in August) just announced their daily lineups and we only have one band for Riot Fest. But I am not complaining. So much going on with festivals right now.

 

any ideas on the diving clue? My guesses were Slowdive, Hole, or Nick Cave, but the clues all seem to point more to songs

The first thing I thought of when I heard Jack the Ripper was Rancid because of the lyrics of "Maxwell Murder," but I think it's unlikely they would play again this year.
