That's kind of where I landed. Mmhmm was awesome for me then and what I was into.

But if they released it today it wouldn't be.

    Air For Free is growth.

I still think mmhmm is a great album. Air for Free is...not.

Both are. I just like Air for Free more, I think it does more interesting things.

    Listening to Five Score next.

i’ve been meaning to tell you

Mmhmm is super great, I'm just not really into that style of music anymore. I think this will be my second favorite RK album behind FANSD.

That's ok... You don't like a lot of things as we all know...

Really? I find it about as weak as Collapsible Lung. BUT, I think FANSD is made better by Five Score. FANSD is the reality to Five Score's overconfident optimism.

Five Score is my second favourite album by them. I think it's wonderful.

Who the fuck even are you? I've literally never seen you in a thread before, so stop talking as if you know what I like and don't like. No reason to be a dick.

Since the S/T, I have bought every album Day One and sat with it for a few hours to listen/read along. Every time it was a wonderful experience where I loved the progression, had favorite lyrics that I went back over and finished satisfied with how the band had progressed.

Except for Five Scores/CL. Both left me with a pit in my stomach and I felt let down w/ a handful of tracks that I loved.

"Deathbed" and "Faking My Own Suicide" are my two favourite Relient K songs. "Up and Up" and "Give Until There's Nothing Left" would probably be my next two on there but I love pretty much every song. I appreciate the positivity.

    The rivalry is back on

Tbh I didn't know FANSD > Five Score was a common opinion until whenever I stumbled on this thread

I think that was the consensus among most critics, but I may be wrong. I think FANSD went largely unnoticed. Wasn't as commercial a release as Five Score and Mmhmm

I'm honestly surprised any time anyone takes anything over FANSD.

I think the band got better each release until Collapsible Lung. Though, the self-titled and Anatomy are both pretty bad to the point I'd probably put Collapsible Lung between Anatomy and Two Lefts now. Not gonna rate AFF until I've gotten a CD and actually spent time with it though.

when they made the announcement for this album they mentioned they had a lot to tell us about why they made this record and why it's so special to them. I've been looking forward to hearing those things and listening to the album definitely has me thinking about it more. has anyone come across anything yet? maybe more of that will come out when it's officially released.

definitely don't think Five Score can be considered an improvement over Mmhmm

Agreed. Maybe this isn't entirely accurate, but I feel like the fame they drew from "Mmhmm" went to their heads and Five Score was the result.

the self titled is pretty unlistenable for me, and anatomy mostly survives on nostalgia. i genuinely love two lefts though, that might always be my favorite of theirs, even if that is an unpopular opinion.
