Whoa, Empty House just started and I thought I was hearing Nate Ruess hahaha

 

I don't even dislike the autotune, but I feel like I'd like the song so much more without it.

 

I think the autotune makes that song honestly. I think it would still be great without it but I don't think it would stand out like it does to me.

So, uh... I really don't like this album. Honestly, almost every song is just annoying to me. I don't think Matt's voice ever annoyed me before CL, but now it's like I can't unhear it or something. I don't find this to be a fun listen or anything, it flat out just bugs me.

The only two songs I liked were Mrs. Hippopotamuses' and Empty House.

Yeah, knew I was gonna get something like that from you haha. I think as a whole I probably like this on the same level as CL.

 

Now that I think about it more, I'm glad Empty House has the autotune, because I think the timbre of his lower range vocals is what's bothering me a lot here and the autotune basically nullifies that.

 

Mrs. Hippopotamuses' is a great track though, kinda like that super poppy sound done right

AFF might end up being my favorite RK album

I think that's a reasonable opinion actually (AFF being the best RK album). FANSD will always be my fave for personal reasons but AFF is extremely good

 

So, take the best tracks from CL and this and you get a nice short eight track album

 

Some songs are better than others, and some will grow on me, but overall this album is pretty forgettable for me.

If you take one listen to FANSD after listening to one of these songs, you'll realize how much better quality the music (and production) was on that record.

 

i swear im not haha. i just really like AFF a lot, but ive listened to AFF, Mmhmm, FANSD, and Five Score quite a lot the past couple days

 

I agree. This album sounds like they tried way too hard to write a sequel to FANSD.

 

I really want to listen to the other albums now and see if I even like them anymore. Maybe I'm just over this band. I had a feeling this would happen with this album, though, because I just felt no excitement for it.

 

I don't think that at all. These songs are so different compared to that record. I mean he says "Dagnabit and hip hip hooray" on a song during this record.

FANSD was totally emotional and the lyrics were FAR superior to this.

 

I could not disagree any more. I wish more than anything that there was an "off" button for the autotune and that song would be WAY more powerful.

It's awful.

 

That's why I said a sequel and not the same album.

 

However, I am gonna defend the autotune, I think that song is cool.
