When you get married the other anniversary gets dropped and you only care about the 1. When my wife and I were dating we used our first date as our anniversary at the time since it seemed easiest. I’ve never heard of anyone celebrating their sex anniversary, that seems weird and unnecessary.

 

clearly the answer is to fuck on the first date, get married on the anniversary of the first date, and if possible make it one of your birthdays so there's one less date to remember

 

The real answer is to live a life alone and give yourself no cause to celebrate. This is the path to bliss and not having to remember so many goddamn dates.

 

I was talking about this with my gf the other night, we decided we'd take July 4th as neither can remember when we decided to make it an "official" thing as it just evolved, and choosing the day we met for the first time seemed a bit silly, but it was around July 4th so seemed as good a day as any.

we're never being one of those "oh happy anniversary babe" type people though so guess it doesn't really matter anyway. its just a way to vaguely count a period of time when people inevitably asking how long you've been together

 

I love cheesy things so of course anniversaries fall under that. before my bf and I got together officially, we did celebrate our one year anniversary from when we met/our first date, which was back in august. it wasn't a big to-do but it was acknowledged. Now, the day we made things official was january 1st so help me god if he can't remember that

I don't think I've ever celebrated it in the traditional sense. I just love the ~vibe. I think it's really sweet to go to the store and see people buying flowers and expressing their appreciation for a loved one. I'm the most cynical bitch on the planet lol but even I can get down with a holiday that reminds people to show loved ones they care. There is candy and glittery heart decorations everywhere sooooo it's great.

While this is true, I looooove buying my partners random gifts and and doing something unexpected for them throughout the year. Howver, I don’t like a planned day for all that stuff.

 

Also all throughout schooling on valentine's my parents would send balloons and candy to my school for me and I loved it. Even now they still send stuff to my work on valentine's haha. And they always made cookies and chocolate covered fruit. My roommate in college would also put gift baskets together for us and it was amazing. Never have celebrated it in a romantic way tho. Nobody needs a specific day to show they care, but I don't see anything wrong with it either! It's a nice reminder day for people to check in on loved ones and let them know they're special because sometimes life gets crazy and it's nice to take time to pause and appreciate. I imagine the way I feel on valentine's is how many people must feel about christmas.



and meticulously picking out my valentines to send out for the party in elementary school was very important to me. When I was on the school paper in 5th grade I even wrote an article about valentine's day that I researched v. thoroughly in the encyclopedia!!!

 

My gf and I just say our anniversary was our first date. We had obvious chemistry and had been talking to each other a few months prior to meeting so we just used the first date as our "official" starting point. Our anniversary is in 12 days and 6 days after that is her birthday so it's easier for me to remember it

 

Valentine's Day should ideally just be a nice night together. No expensive gifts or dinners, just something relaxed without distractions

 

The first time we had sex was when I considered us to be dating, thus our "official date". Once we got married, that was pushed to the side and our wedding day was celebrated;"anniversary date". Whenever we met new people or other adults that asked we'd say together for 5 years, married 3, or something like that. But only celebrated a nice night out or small gifts with our wedding date.
