Just wanted to draw attention to how good that JEW song is. So good and underrated.

After my most recent breakup I listened to A LOT of death cab.

Break-up music was Get Hurt and On the Impossible Past. The latter of which was terrifyingly specific.

Call It Off and Motion City's "Hold Me Down" are the two songs that can transform my entire mood, regardless of how happy I am, haha.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

As for proper miserable breakup songs, I'd have to suggest A Bitter Divorce by Captain We're Sinking and Call Your Girlfriend by Allison Weiss. Everchanging by Rise Against is a miserable fast one.

I'd second Julien Baker, but she's pretty much amazing at any time.

The soundtrack to my huge and awful breakup was Everything You Ever Loved by Make Do And Mend. It came out right about when it happened and St Anne kicked me right in the feel zone.

the big mystery to me is - what do people listen to when they're happy / in a happy relationship / newly engaged? like, 99% of all music can be interpreted for sad frowny times. but what do you listen to when you're happy? let's say you just proposed or got proposed to (and said yes) and now you're driving home - what music in playing? or, on a not so scary scale, let's say you just hit it off on a first date or started seeing someone "seriously". what music do you listen to on a way home?

think about this from time to time because whenever i'm in a good mood i really have nothing that works, at least not lyrically. usually have to resort to just something loud and fast and pretend they're happily playing loud and fast.

as for 'after breakup' songs / music i remember years ago playing "Mirrors" by Timberlake a lot, but most just because that song rules no matter what moment in life is taking place. and the album had just come out so it i was already addicted to it.

When i was younger, a lot of it would be what was popular on the radio and stuff, like Timberlake's "Love Song"....I didn't particularly like the song, but me and my gf at the time had danced/grinded to it a lot at our high school dances and we were in love and etc.

Now a days I'm an old fogie who doesn't listen to the radio much and couldn't tell you what 95% of the popular songs are. So yeah I mostly still listen to the sad stuff I mostly like haha. But it helps that my fiancé likes things like TDAG too because then we can sing along together.

But there are a lot of good happy love songs out there...Every Thug by Alkaline Trio, The Luckiest by Ben Folds, Peter Gabriel's Book of Love, Closer by Tegan and Sara, etc.

    Slow down, Quentin Supporter

I really really like this post. Just thought I'd say that.
I'm right where you are. Blessed that everything professionally/physically is going well. I don't have cause to complain that the relationship side hasn't worked out. I tell myself to keep calm and be patient; that good things come to those who least expect them; that it'll work itself out -- but it's been over two years now since I've been in any relationship, and three years since I've been in something serious. I'm wondering whether I'm the guy resting up before the mountain climb, or whether I'm sitting waiting for the mountain to come to me.
I'm nervous there's something different I should be doing, but at the same time I can't think of something I'm not doing. So either I'm right where I need to be and the stars haven't aligned yet, or I'm an old man who thinks he's a knight starting to catch his reflection in a mirrored shield.
