but for reals, like i dont know... doesnt have to be jokes and banter all the time but theres just that certain personality that GETS" it" which is literally the most vague way to describe something and also probs why im single.

 

like one time i was at a bar and this dude was talking to me and there was a mechanical bull (dont ask) and he says (i thought as a joke) are you gonna get up on there next? and i said "nah man, i only ride one thing" and he was so mortified and walked away. jokes, man.

I also feel like people use sarcasm as a copout for wit, if I had a dollar for everyone I ever met with "SARCASM IS MY SECOND LANGUAGE" as their bio on any social website...

Not to say sarcasm isn't witty, it definitely can be, but I feel like people who specify how sarcastic they are make every single social response as something sarcastic and don't really ever try

 

Sarcasm is usually code for " I'm going to make an obnoxious comment and want full impunity"

 

I should probably work on not trying to say something humorous with every sentence but I'm not convinced I know how to stop that.

totally, sarcasm is definitely a defense mechanism for some. i think theres an appropriate time for both and if youre having a serious conversation, then you should respond in a serious manner. the "sarcasm is my second language" is almost as bad as "im not like other girls" statement. like we get it, youre so00o0o unique.
