I don't want to speak for Derek or anything but we talked and it seems like things are kind of smoothed over now. I just don't want any unnecessary drama in here with him or anyone else so that was a good conversation that we needed to have

I need to share this somewhere and I don't feel comfortable sharing it in other threads as I don't really value my opinion too much, which is okay.

I've thought a lot about Kobe and his sexual assault case, which I absolutely think something terrible happened that night. I have a life today that is built on the foundation of forgiveness. I was a drug addict and while thank god I never even laid a finger on a women, I did things that people have every right to never forgive me for. Many people have forgiven me , but there are people who will never talk to me again for the rest of my life for things that I have done and you know what? They have every right not to and I have to accept that.

Kobe in my opinion did learn from that awful decision he made that night and tried his best to turn his life into something more of a role model and an just a good overall person. If it's in your heart to forgive him and celebrate him, then you should be allowed to. If you forever think he is a terrible person and don't ever want to say a positive word about him, you're absolutely entitled to it.

I know this is nothing groundbreaking or any kind of hot take, it's just my view and how I handle looking at him in a positive light. Being in recovery for 5 years, and trying to get sober much longer than that. I know people that have done absolutely horrible things, many of them dealing with sexual assault. I know many of those people will forever regret it and being addicted to drugs is NOT an excuse to ever assault anyone, but I know those people have turned their lives around and have learned lessons in the hardest way possible. I choose to support those people in every way I can, but they know as well as I do certain people will forever judge them and not give them a chance and well, they are allowed to feel that way.

 

I was with another band but ASD and DGD were coheadliners, until of course ASD dropped off about halfway through cause the lead singer was causing all sorts of problems lol

Yeah, he definitely has that vibe at times. One time, he was going on about how he hated black metal and basically said he respects those who likes it but he wouldn’t recognize it for its influence on metal because he doesn’t like it and that it sounds bad. It was such a weird take considering that he raves about bands like ADTR or Chunk! No, Captain Chunk. His followers are fun to argue with that said.
