PUP - THE UNRAVELING OF PUPTHEBAND (April 1st, 2022) • Page 15

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by soggytime, Jan 13, 2022.

  1. I only started doing solo shows last summer, but it's become basically a half-the-time thing for me and I LOVE it.

I normally have a really high bar for feeling safe/comfortable enough to drop my guard socially and actually talk to people, but I've had a good time regardless of whether I'm trying to be alone & invisible or feeling a little less timid about small talk and strangers.

Struggling to get into this like their previous work. It's no doubt a solid record. But the interludes are a big turnoff. And the production and mix just sound poor compared to their other stuff.

Stoked to see them doing so well though. Oh, and totally go to concerts alone, it's alright!

I am very much this dude at shows. Do it. It rules.

Going to concerts and movies alone has become the biggest treat I have as a parent. No nagging, no bothering, just blissful immersion.

This record is awesome. Totally Fine is one of my favorite songs this year. Stefan sounds unhinged on it and I love it.

This is a lot of fun, even if it's not quite clicking for me the way Morbid Stuff did. I love the Four Chords songs, they're completely ridiculous in every way but are exactly what this band does better than just about anyone else.

I think the band absolutely sounds the tightest they ever have on this album, the musicianship is the most impressive. Vocally, you hear more range than ever before and he's trying out new things and succeeding. The songs are more complex and the tracks have multiple parts that all come together really nicely, all the while sneaking in some of their hookiest and most memorable moments. Each subsequent listen reveals more details.

I go to shows alone as well. It rocks. I don’t have to worry about my wife or any of my friends having a good time, because I’m generally the most invested. Dragging people to shows never ends up being as fun as it sounds.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

Digging this a bit more than Morbid Stuff, but not as much as TDIO. It's definitely a very worthy addition to their discography.

    Love solo shows and movies.
My wife hates being in the GA/Pit and I adore it. So gives me a chance to be a young buck again.

solo movies are also rad. Love walking out and just thinking about what I watched vs immediately talking about it.

  22. The romance on this record deserves special mention. Where it’s visceral, where it’s tender, where it’s forlorn, where it’s celebration… Love is a bigger deal on this album than I realized at first. Teared up a couple times in the car earlier.

i’m not the one trying to force conversations out of something that couldn’t be more inconsequential but go off lol

  24. it’s not inconsequential or forced just because you don’t find it interesting and can’t find a clever way to draw attention to yourself like normal

I don’t think I’ll ever find you consequential enough to go off on.
