I just can't get over how terrible these costumes look. It's depressing.

What's even more depressing is that fans have done a better job 're-imagining' the suits, while still being faithful to the original suits. Heck, they could have been lazy and recycled the old 90s film costumes, and I would have been fine with that.

I'm a broken record at this point, but I don't care, lol...

I keep going back to Captain America in Avengers, Spidey in Amazing Spider-Man 2, Batman in BvS, Deadpool in his movie, a lot of the costumes on CW, etc. It doesn't take much to make ridiculous old costumes work on the big screen.

And, I don't even think they have to be 100% practical (though I do think that 100% practical costumes with cool fight choreography would've been ideal, especially with the places elsewhere that CGI is necessary). Characters like Black Panther, Superman, and Deadpool have had CGI applied to their looks with much success. These full-on gaudy CGI monstrosities are just burdensome, though.

In a dream world, the first act of the film would feel like Chronicle meets Breakfast Club, the second act would feel like the best of Arrow/Daredevil/Spider-Man, and the third act would feel like Transformers. This looks to be 2/3 of that, so I hope I'll still enjoy it for what it is, but I'll also complain about the costumes about a dozen more times, lol.

I think the mechanical/alien aspects of the suits are the reasons for the dramatic changes and full on cgi take. Maybe not the best look ever, but I'm waiting on judgement just yet. Trailer improved my apprehensiveness.

I re-watched the 90s movie and even if it is goofy and ridiculous I still love it much like I love the show. Ivan Ooze is wonderful.

Ivan: sticks? Did these sticks make a whistling sound?
Tenga warrior: ehhhh it was more like nails on a chalkboard

Tenga warrior: you want us to take another whack at it?
Ivan: HOW ABOUT TAKING ANOTHER QUACK AT IT *boom*

Always loved the super corny one liners the rangers say while they're fighting.

    Also this is great:

Ivan Ooze: No need. I'm going to recruit the parents of Angel Grove.
Goldar: Uh, no offense, boss, but they might find you a little disgusting.
    Mordant: [burps]
Ivan Ooze: Well, I suppose you'll be the experts on that.

And somebody else said it. Costumes were an awesome big screen adaptation. Makes me a little more on the sad side now in regards to the cgi costumes.

i don't follow power rangers at all - i caught mighty morphin on cable a few times as a kid and owned the video game for SNES, but i couldn't really tell you anything about the show. so, despite not having watched any of the trailers for this movie, i don't know why i'm looking forward to it and will probably see it in theaters

That third trailer is the first one that really nailed the tone

    Nailed the tone you want?

Because we don't know what the majority of the movie will give us. We may have seen all the "jokey" stuff already, maybe the rest is serious/dark. Or maybe the other way around.

I did dig the third trailer. But I just can't say I know the true feel of the movie yet. But in about a month I will!
