Hmmmm.... I dunno bout this one

 

It's definitely like feel it still in that they snuck in a "borrowed" guitar part from another song around the 1:58 mark. Can't place it but gimme time!

I think this is a jam for sure. Def catering to the fans they gained with "feel it still", but still has some freshness to it.

 

Doesn’t blow me away but I had a feeling PTM was going to continue the sound found on Woodstock anyways which sucks but makes sense if they want to push their band commercially. That’s just the facts.

 

Anyways I’m off to go listen to Evil Friends now

The guitar tone and horn production give off major Feel It Still 2 vibes

 

it's just completely OK like most of Woodstock. Will listen while laying in the backyard casually drinking a beer.

great description of this band’s current phase. Just put it on while you’re outside. Not meant to be listened to intently.

 

I just really hope the new record has much stronger material or else it’s going to be a total Woodstock scenario all over again: asking myself how this was the best material the band could come up in 4 years but now it’s 5 instead lol

They’ve made some of the best material in a matter of a year so with 5 - I low key have some expectations for at least a few bangers.

 

Accurate description for sure but man..: this band has SO MUCH MORE in them so it’s a gigantic bummer to witness.

 

It’s a different phase than where they were when they started but it’s still at least higher quality pop rock. For me, they’re last record really fills the void left behind by MGMT after they jumped the shark on their second LP

When Evil Friends was released, I remember seeing like a dozen or so alternate album covers that weren't used. Does anyone happen to have those? Can't seem to find them anywhere and I thought I had saved them.

Surely no one in the Portugal/Alt-J camp is unvaxxed, right? Because she pretty immediately announced a solo headlining tour after dropping this tour, which wouldn't make sense if she was against touring because of COVID itself

 

weird, I would be shocked if anyone in PTM is not vaccinated, so I doubt it's that

 

maybe she didn’t want to play arenas?

 

Maybe! The part that confused me was “going against medical advice” and then announcing another US tour, but that could be the case!

 

wasn't it due to an injury? probably enough time in between now and the new tour for it to heal up.

 

Ohhhh, that would make a lot more sense.

 

They are playing tonight at Reggies (400 capacity) in Chicago. $40 cash and doors at midnight.
