I mentioned this in the video game thread but I used my dog as an excuse to go for a walk and catch some Pokemon. I went by the local park and it was really a nice sight to see kids and the parents just running around the park trying to catch Pokemon. I could hear the dad like yelling excitedly at his son to come to him because he found a Ekans.

also no clue why but my neighbor a few houses down is basically a Pokemon safezone. I've caught like 4 different Pokemon just chilling at there house and more keep popping up there.

 

The servers keep going down whenever I know I'm about to walk anywhere D:

 

must be because everyones trying to hop on for lunch time

 

But that only applies to the east coast!

 

I went out to drive to the nearest lake and on the way there the server crashed. I immediately turned around regretting driving 20 miles for nothing.

 

Went walking for a little bit and the servers shit the bed but it stayed open. Didn't realize I was making zero progress.

 

I have seen 3 Abras and my game has crashed all 3 times

 

Has anyone found any of their starters in the wild? I've encountered zero Squirtles and so mine is super weak.

 

Two Squirtles, a Wartortle, and a Bulbasaur

 

Grabbed a 212 CP Marowak last night immediately after leaving a Poison the Well show, but to my dismay after catching it I saw that its strongest attack is something like 25.

Does anyone know if Pokemon can learn new moves as they grow?

 

Still not able to play. Goddammit.

havent seen any starters in the wild at all

 

I've been playing on and off since yesterday. It keeps going down for me. I'm also on vacation this week on the Eastern Virginia shore so reception is spotty to begin with. How are people getting their pokemon to such high cp? I don't have anyone over 100.

 

i got a squirtle in the wild and i hatched a 198 cp squirtle from a 2km egg

I got a 10 km egg, hope it's something rare

i took back my gym with a drowzee, then these two clowns followed behind me and tag teamed my gym the second i left.

 

you can power them up with candies. also when your trainer level grows, you encounter higher cp pokemon.

 

Hmm.

I only just got to level 5 this morning. And I was saving up the candies to evolve them.. I was able to evolve a Pigey, so that was cool.

I also took over a gym down the street here at a national park. I'm sure it won't stand up to other trainers well. But it was find to find one no one had been to yet.

 

Wish this game taught you how to play it a little better. But for anyone else who has basic questions or just want to know what certain things mean I found the guide at pokemongodb.net very helpful.

 

5K egg I just hatched was a 198 CP Oddish. Pretty close to hatching my first 10K. Probably on my way back from the gym later if the servers are back up.

Haven't had a chance to play this yet. Just downloaded and picked Charmander. Will hopefully go on some walks this weekend and have some fun.

 

This is fantastic, obviously, but I'll be pretty upset and probably stop playing at some point if they don't add other gens or a PvP system of some sort.

 

How DO you use the secondary move?

 

re: hatching, do I need to have the app open and screen on while I'm walking?
