I found a Goldeen in the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant, I love this game.

 

So these mystery gift Pokemon. How are people getting them...?

just revealed. It's ability allows it to poison anything, even poison and steel types.

 

Probably average stats. But damn what an ability.

 

I'm sure it'll evolve. And 4x ground weakness is brutal. I like that they seem to be coming up with abilities designed to screw with the meta game though.

 

Yeah I hope they just fuck up the meta for a while. Will be fun to keep up with.

Wonder if balloon is gonna be a good item for that guy.

 

Thoughts after a night and a morning playing Go:

- Living in Albany is great for this, the SUNY Albany Campus had a Pokestop every 100 feet or so.
- Caught Nidoran, Weedle, Rattata, Pidgey, and Zubat before the servers got too overloaded to use it. Used an incense right before they went down, so I lost it, which was a bummer.
- I used an incense before my 20 minute bus ride to work, and with the slowgoingness between morning traffic and a bunch of stops, I was able to catch a ton of Pokemon and hit every Pokestop along the way.
- Very impressed with how totally unnecessary the microtransactions are. I currently have 22 different types of Pokemon, 9 eggs, 3 incense, 136 Pokeballs, 46 potions, and 35 revives... and I haven't spent a dime.
- Really expected there to be less Pokemon variety in each area without the use of items, great surprise.
- Level 7.
- Currently have: Bulbasaur, Caterpie, Metapod, Weedle, Kakuna, Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Rattata, Raticate, Spearow, Nidoran (Male), Clefairy, Zubat, Oddish, Venonat, Geodude, Ponyta, Gastly, Drowzee, Krabby, Horsea, & Eevee.
- Only evolutions I got through evolving myself were Kakuna and Pidgeotto, and I've since ran into both in the wild.
- Battery drain is shockingly tame, considering I'm using an iPhone 5S that's 2-3 years old. Played from 7 am to 8:20 am this morning with full brightness and Blink playing, ended with 66% battery. Granted, power saver mode was on both in the game's settings and the phone's setting itself.

Me, my girlfriend, and our other roommate ran all over hell last night, it's been a blast. Can't wait to see what's roaming around NYC tomorrow night and at Warped on Saturday.

 

So is there a way to tell exactly where the Pokemon are so you know where to walk or is it completely random?

 

Whenever I've clicked on the ones in the side panel, I've walked right into them after a little while.

 

Salandit is bad ass. Pokemon Go is like a dream.

 

Lunch time at work was all about exploring. lol

 

Pokemon Trainer Club servers are so fucked. Haven't been able to log into Go for two hours now.

 

yeah ive been having the same issue

 

it was down for quite a bit. I heard servers are coming back up again.

 

its been letting me in and then kicking me off on and off every ten minutes for the last hour.

 

so far one of the biggest problems i see them facing is people using real money for in app purchases and then when they use their timed (30 min) item, the server crashes and they are out the item. seems like a problem they need to fix asap.

 

Yeah. I lost incense because of that.

 

i saw one dude lingering around a pokestop, he looked embarrassed

i took over the gym around here

 

i said hi to a guy who was clearly loitering around a pokestop

 

is this a data drain too? or just a battery drain

 

Very minimal data usage. Says I've used 48 MB, and I've played for at least three hours.
