User reviews were awful Sputnik does a horrible job of distinguishing staff and non staff reviews then

there's a big red "contributor" or "staff" marker next to the writer name

i did say mostly. trebor's been there for a while, back when i read/stole their writers for my own purposes, he's mostly just in his own world so this isn't surprising

Reviews in general are useless and this thread is a lot better when we're all tossing back and forth our own thoughts. We've even had people come in who don't like it and had discussions with them. This is why I don't need to read reviews anymore, I get way more out of talking in threads on chorus and with my friends elsewhere

Before reading the Pitchfork review for this album, I couldn't tell you the last time I read a review. I would rather have a much more natural conversation about music than reading a review processed over days or even weeks when opinions can change just as quickly

Someone wrote a biblical review of Finch's Say Hello To Sunshine on Sputnik and it makes me forget all the bad reviews on that site. Maybe one in every 30 is a good one

Fake Lighting, Forever Sound and Love on Repeat are so so good. The whole album is amazing. I think it’s safe to say it’s a classic.

    Manila is that song

Also I know people hate comparisons but this reminds me of like War Paint (the TDS album) mixed with Turn On The Bright Lights

You can say I'm wrong ALFM

i don't have much of a listening history with these guys, so i didn't have any expectations. with that said...this is a standout album. one i've been desperately waiting for in 2018.

very happy to have it in my collection.

the bridge of charisma and first minute of dry spells are my favorite moments at this point. absolutely infectious.

I still haven't sat and listened through the whole album with the lyrics. I got to "Manila" and fell asleep (I fall asleep often when reading).

Couldn’t get into this unfortunately. They have a sick drummer and I quite liked a lot of guitar parts, but the whole album blended together a little too much and I would have liked it more with a different singer. Oh well. I’ll give it another shot to see if anything changes

I want everyone to know that I listened to almost all of TLLA last night on my way home from work and I enjoyed it. I’ll give it a headphones and lyrics listen again soon probably, still need to do that with WFL as well.

Idk I never really got into it when the conversation was happening but I have a weird relationship with that record. When it came out my grandma had just passed and I remember trying to listen to it and it was just... too much. I ended up buying the vinyl at Hot Topic like a year later, hoping that I’d actually try and give it a chance but it ended up just sitting on my shelf until I sold it. I can’t really justify it logically, it’s not like I disliked it musically, but I think subconsciously I just avoided it.

I freakin love the end of dry spells and I have no idea why. It's just this simple little guitar riff with some rung out chords, straight ahead bass, and the drums playing a simple rock pattern. I think its the release of the drums that makes me love it so much that song is ALL toms and driving toms, and it just feels like its building up to this release and once it happens it feels so freakin good.

i dont even have a loss of anyone to attribute it to and TLLA is hard to listen to, its totally understandable

They just announced a UK dual headliner with Foxing. Guess I'm going to the London show on my own and I'm gonna love it.

Went back and listened to Keep You this morning. Even though I’m really enjoying the new one, Keep You is just so damn powerful and moving.

That was me. I ordered the clear with black and gold splatter. I just reread the email and kings road have said it’ll be repressed and will ship around the 2nd March so not a terrible delay

I cannot stop thinking about or listening to Bloody Sweet and I'm surprised it's not been talked about as much on here as some of the other tracks on this album. That crescendo of sound that it ends in is just so wonderful
