Album is good. Not blown away. But I can see it blowing me away the more I dive into it. Sounds like one of those albums that "one month from now" me is going to love, and then "one month from now" me is going to wonder why "one month earlier" me didn't love it in the first place. Or maybe it'll just take a week to fall in love. Or maybe this album is just "good" and I won't fall in love. I guess I'll just have to wait.

a burst and I'm awake now Supporter

This line from the Pitchfork review is spot on imo: “...But the grays in their funereal ambience are now polished silver and the fog has lifted”

Whereas previous PBTT albums were anguished, agonized, mournful, this album is wistful but also life-affirming. It’s a way through the grief, and I think that’s what has most drawn me in. As I’ve previously stated when discussing the appeal of Goodness for me, as I get older and life gets harder I find myself seeking out music with hope in it, music that acknowledges things are tough but also charts a path through the gloom. I think this album really nails that. PBTT’s art has taken us on one hell of an emotional journey. It’s nice to have made it to the other side with them.

Do I put this on in the office or save my first listen and take a late night drive after my girlfriend leaves this evening?

Anyone getting 'the national' vibe from this? Especially their last two albums, not necessarily sonically but something about it reminds me of their last two albums.

Still haven’t had a chance to listen to this yet. I’ve heard Charisma once and that’s it. I’m hoping to have time tomorrow to give it a few spins.

I really hope the Kings Road black and gold press isn't delayed too long... Half-debating buying a regular one just to have a physical copy in a reasonable amount of time :/ I just want the lyrics to all of the songs, man.

Edit: Never mind, saving my money. @mescalineeyes you rock!
