lol in my dreams last night it came in the post then I told myself to stop being stupid and expect it in November

 

I ordered the indies exclusive from Banquet and they seem to have it already.

 

I ordered the splatter from their official store so I don't know what to expect really.

 

People comparing this so much to Goodness makes me want to listen to The Hotelier again... I always respected them but never got too into any of their albums tbh.

 

The drums on this do "pop" a lot more than they did on Keep You. Part of that is production, but I think most of it is David's writing. He said that on Keep You he had to learn restraint, and how to play what the songs called for, and here it sounds like he figured out how to play complex parts that don't take away from the ebb and flow of the songs.

 

Goodness is my favourite record since Boxer/ Midnight Organ Fight and this album is giving me the exact same vibes I get from that record.

 

Goodness is essential

 

Only two listens in but already feeling like this is special, Fake Lighting is definitely up there with their best work and if everything else grows on me like the singles I’m gonna love this. Also just bought a ticket to Boston show because they said it was close to selling out and even though I have work I can’t miss that

 

Dry Spells > Bay of Dreams > Forever Sound has a sense of dynamics I don't think I've heard since Foxing's Dealer.

I can't believe people don't like TLLA

 

I love TLLA, but I like Keep You and Wait For Love more.

 

I think that is the general consensus no?

 

Probably so. I haven't seen anyone say they straight up don't like it, unless people don't like screaming only records.

 

TLLA deserves to be up there with As the Roots Undo or City of Caterpillar for the genre imo. It’s about as perfect a screamo album as they come but I probably still like Keep You more

 

I saw CTTS square in 2011 with Touche, and I have to say, I don't know if I "get" them. Entertaining though.

I think TLLA has less in common with grindy screamo on chaos than the post rocky kind on those records. That album kicks ass tho

 

I don’t dislike TLLA, it just hasn’t ever clicked for me to the point where I’ve felt the urge to come back to it often. I also am not the most avid listener of heavier music in general, so that’s definitely part of it.

 

CTTS probably wasn’t the best example for that, my fault

 

My personal tastes in what I want from music just align much more with what Keep You and this album do. A screamo album has a much lower ceiling for me personally than a ... post-hardcore, i guess... record does.
