Not sure who had it worse this weekend; I got paired with a stranger who used AimPoint when lining up his putts.

Call the marshall on 4 practice swing guy. Doesn’t matter that he’s in your group. Thats fucking maniacal.

I care less about LIV every week.

The very cringey “we want people to see we are having fun that you cant have on the pga tour” champagne spraying at the end if this event was bad. I just hope they find a groove as they go, because ill tell ya, i dont care a bit about the pga events if the best guy im watching is Jt Poston. Really puts the pressure on guys like justin, spieth, rory, etc to play as much as possible.

One of my buddies was like this. The more serious we got about golf we had to tell him to stop that shit or he wouldn’t be invited out anymore. Thankfully he stopped that shit

So many times in buddies games, it’s just that they don’t realize it. We had a friend who would freeze up on tee shots he was scared to hit before inevitably hitting it poorly - he would take up to 30 seconds just standing over the ball. Not adjusting, not waggling, just standing in his posture with minor movements before hacking. So once as a goof, we recorded him doing it, put the jeopardy theme over it and sent it to him.

Now, we knew he would laugh, but now when he’s on a tight driving hole, he will say “I’m not going Jeopardy” and he hits quickly and with purpose. Pace of play and tempers in the group are improved - and he hits WAY better tee shots as well since he’s just playing on instinct instead of waiting for perfection.

Xander wins again. For some reason I just can't muster any excitement when he wins - not sure why.

It's Open Week! Hard to believe it's already the last major of the year; it feels like the Masters was last week. Sounds like the course is dry and fast with some crazy winds in the forecast for all four days. I wish I could feel good about Tiger's chances but some of the practice footage is a bit discouraging. He is already in his weekend-grimacing mode and this is an easy walk. If anything, I just hope he puts up a performance like this years Masters and doesn't have to withdraw like he did from the PGA.

I'm going to go out on a limb and pick Spieth to win. I know his putting has been atrocious but up until the last five holes yesterday he had playing been tremendously, shaping shots and crushing it on his drives. Few players can match his wedge play in the wind so if he can sink a few putts here and there he will be fine.

Hot take: Mickelson finishes better than Tiger.

  9. I’m betting Scheffler, Spieth, Lowry, and Rory straight up. I usually sprinkle a few top 20 parlays too.

Tiger to make the cut is -164 which just isn’t enough juice to even throw money on as a flyer.

I like the matchplay bets. Max Homa +108 against Tyrrell Hatton just because of how much he’s bitched this year about major course conditions. GO MAX GO

Would love for Max, Jordan or JT to be near it on Sunday.

If Rory is near the lead on Sunday, I’m just gonna pace around my house.

Interesting leaderboard after the first round. The fact that Scheffler posted that score during the toughest wave of conditions bodes well for him. I'm not gonna fall for the Rory trap yet. I've been hurt too many times. Overall, a good first round, though the slow play really sucked the energy in the afternoon. That will go away once weekend comes but a bit of a damper.

Speaking of dampers, Tiger's putting was just atrocious today which is one area you would think he could excel at. It will be sad if he doesn't make the cut in what could be his last tournament there.

Tiger needs to retire. Its going to get very ugly for him. Maybe play one last Masters and call it a career. I cannot bear to watch him break down like this. It bums me out.

The only bummers on that leaderboard holding the Claret Jug on Sunday are DJ or Scheffler. Pretty OK with anyone else up there.

Rory/Hovland tomorrow might mean 18 birdies between the two of them.

Hard to ask for a better leaderboard. Kind of wished the Top 10 was scrunched closer together but oh well. Rooting for Sahith, Viktor, Rory and Tyrrell - in that order.

Cam Smith once again melting down and making questionable decisions. It makes for compelling well but prevents him from winning majors. I will take another day of this pairing of Hovland and McIlroy.

Yeah, so this didn't age well lol. Cam Smith is a deserving champion. The guy is just a freak putter. There's no reason to think Rory won't be in contention next year but it's a long wait and this one is one he should have had.
