Not that I'm aware of. And even if he did I don't know what he'd even say beyond those two records were concept albums and he was using them in the context of the stories he was trying to tell. Not that that makes it right or ok in hindsight, of course. One would hope that he would at least recognize in 2019 that using those words so cavalierly was a mistake, though.

 

American Eulogy.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that it's been a no-no word for a really long time. (I'm talking about American Eulogy which was released in 2009.)

Last time I saw GD Billie didn’t say any of those words when playing the songs with them in it so I’m glad he’s at least aware he shouldn’t be doing that anymore

I don’t think it’s been a “no-no” word for a long time. Maybe like at this point, a decade but like not really even. You could still very easily get away with that word up until maybe a couple of years ago, potentially earlier depending on your circle. There’s always been people saying you shouldn’t use that word, but I don’t think it’s really had much of a cultural pushback until maybe the last 5 years

 

Yeah I mean there's also no way there was malicious intent behind it. Again, of course, that doesn't make it ok for him to have said the words but it's not exactly the same situation as someone using slurs because it's what they really feel/say in every day life.
