I'm just going to hold out until it hits Spotify tomorrow night. It'll give me a chance to run through their discography one more time tomorrow before hearing this.

This album made me dance and cry for a consistent 45 minutes. It also solidifies my belief that Justin Meldel Johnson is one of the greatest producers of our time.

After my first listen.....Digging the vibe of this album a lot. They pull it off well using real instruments and it still sounds like Paramore. Great direction for them. I've always been a fan of them, but they're not a favorite band of mine. For me, this is probably my favorite on first listen since Riot.

'Grudges' left the biggest impression on me out of everything else. Obviously 'Rose-Colored Boy' is good too.

My favorite thing about this album......Zac's drumming. It is fantastic.

Edit: 'No Friend' is a cool instrumental/interlude into the closing track. Cool beat on that one.

Just starting my first listen of this. I've never been a huge fan - all their albums have a handful of great tracks and quite a few I don't care much for - so I'm interested where I fall on this. Of the singles, I didn't like Hard Times and Told You So was just there.

wrap yourself in petals for armor.

My first play through of albums I am so excited for are usually pretty schizophrenic; I am so eager to hear the whole album at once that I am often anticipating the next track before even finishing the one I am on. So I wasn't able to have many reactions besides "adnsjfbidusfgbsiufdfsefewaawd" on the first play. The second time around, Rose-Colored Boy started and I was immediately hit by an overwhelming sadness. I really started to put some things together.

When bne came out, it felt like hope. In hindsight of course, when Josh and Zac left, it seems that the writing was on the wall despite songs like 'Looking Up.' When S/T came out, it felt like a rebirth. I was rejuvenated as a Paramore fan, I got the bars tattoo, and it seemed like we were finally back to where we had been in the early years. When Jeremy left, more skeletons emerged, and it was another painful couple of years for Paramore and their fans.

Let me clarify, I don't blame anyone in Paramore. I think that they're all human and had their personal pains to go through. When I say it was painful to be a Paramore fan, I mean that it was painful to watch them all struggle in their owns ways. I missed them.

Getting to this album...this album is one of anxiety. It's of uncertainty, of a realization that nothing stays the same no matter how much you may want it to.

It's the anxiety of growing up. And it feels somewhat bitter, fresh, and cautiously optimistic too. But it's also deeply painful and you can even hear it in Hayley's vocals. It's not clean or smooth, so to speak, or polished; it kind of feels like an emotional outpouring. And that feels very real. I'm left with a lot of questions after listening to this album. It feels very raw.

So it's not playfully innocent like Riot! was, hopeful like bne, or a rebirth like S/T. It's the continuing evolution of Paramore. And I love that.

These are my initial reactions. They could evolve or change completely, I don't know. But I wanted to write out my feelings about it before I forgot.

Don't like how the first three songs are virtually the same tempo. Rose Colored Boy is definitely the best of the three though.
