Yeah there's a decently high chance Leo and/or Pitt get nominated for this. There are few things the Academy loves more than movies about movies/Hollywood. This could potentially get a truckload of nominations.

Looking over the cast list I certainly did not recognize Harley Quinn Smith, Danielle Harris, and Maya Hawke (who I just watched in Stranger Things) as Manson family members. Also Rumor Willis played Joanna Pettet but what scene was she in?

So Harley was just one of the girls at the ranch, Maya was the girl who takes the car and runs at the end.

Honestly Lena Dunham really took me out of the movie when she first showed up. Also, obviously, absolutely no reason to have Hirsch in this movie. Literally anyone could have played that role.

It hurt to see Luke Perry though

If Pitt is ever destined to win an Oscar I hope it's for this.

Wait, his Oscar is 12 Years a Slave’s Best Picture win.

If Pitt is ever gonna get an acting award it should be for this

That’s fine but it concerns us who realize that the scene depicts him in a way that he was fighting against in the late 60s whenever directors and casting agents laughed at the idea of him or any other Asian male in a significant role in Hollywood.

I appreciate the different perspectives we’ve gotten on the Bruce Lee issue. I admittedly have a very limited view on the matter, but would like to say that, to me, Bruce Lee has long been an icon of Hollywood and of great art. His depiction in this movie did nothing to sway my opinion of him due to my understanding that it was probably meant to amount to nothing more than a look inside the mind of a very narrow-minded, but very compelling, character in Cliff. Although, I can definitely see why there would be those who would react differently to the situation given an entirely different worldview than my own.

Pitt deserves an acting Oscar just because he looks so fucking good eating and talking while eating

It's kind of insane how perfect of casting it was to have Damian Lewis play Steve McQueen in this

I’m going to steal from critic walter chaw/an article in the LA Times: “I think the movie is about the burden that certain idols have had to bear,” said veteran film critic Walter Chaw, who sees the scene as one in which Lee doesn’t lose, even if he’s knocked down a peg. “Bruce Lee has become posterized or memed to this point where he’s this wise Eastern philosopher who was also indestructible. The amount of rage around the idea that Bruce Lee could even be beaten in battle is really disturbing to me, because it dehumanizes him.”

Walter Chaw also had a great point about how audiences have reacted to the scene is super troubling, imo more troubling than the scene itself:
