Eh, I dunno. I think showing mercy is the Jedi way. But it doesn’t seem inconsistent with Kenobi. Ultimately, he does kill Maul. He thought he had to kill Anakin on Mustafar. He clearly had no intention of killing Vader on the Death Star. Yet Ben seems to think that Luke must kill Vader. So this fits in the sense that his decisions on killing or not seem to vary. He seems to look down on Anakin killing Dooku. It’s very complicated for him it seems. He chooses to go out not killing and sacrificed himself to give Luke and crew time to escape. So that’s where he ultimately lands, but it certainly wasn’t a straight path to that mindset for him.

and I think Reva being in the Cal Kestis show that’s rumored to be happening would make a lot of sense.

Last two eps redeemed the first four for me. The Anakin/Vader voice was so good. That scene was a highlight for me.

Mainly the stuff early on, Leia chase scenes, some bad dialogue from the inquisitors, the city planet. Show definitely improved as it went. Also, definitely agree that Roken and Gerrera have different motivations/outlooks, I just assumed Disney couldn’t resist.

you may want to unquote me if your goal was to not have something spoiled for others. I've deleted my post in any case.

Bit of a straw poll for the thread here.

Those of you who really enjoyed this (i did not): Is it because you loved the prequels, the prequel cartoons or a combo of both? Or is it something more unique and nuanced than that?

This was in no way the show I expected it to be, which is obviously on me and me alone. I went in with very high expectations that this would be a darker show, and paint a picture of solitude for Obi-Wan.
While I genuinely dislike the prequels and the sequels too, to a degree (though I loved the last Jedi), I was hoping this would be amazing, as I love Ewan a lot.

I think what personally takes me out of it are the lack of stakes for our main characters. I literally don't care what happens to any of the side characters that were introduced on screen in this mini series. And it's hard to care about Vader/Obi-Wan/Luke/Leia because we already know what happens.

Sometimes i feel like it would have been better to leave it alone and let Rebels/Clone Wars be the story of Obi-Wan's journey instead.

I guess I just like my stories to have stakes I can get emotionally invested in (Stranger Things, for example).

Excellent ending. Definitely see the potential in a season 2, but if they keep this as a limited series, it ended perfectly.

    Pretty solid finale.

    Loved seeing Qui-Gon again.

what I loved about this show I absolutely adored and what I hated bothered me more than anything the sequel trilogy did. Part of that is probably by how connected I am to these characters. I'm totally in the camp of wanting all the Star Wars I can get cause I love it more than most things but I couldn't help but wonder if this really needed to happen. This never really felt like a show about Obi-Wan. It was the Obi-Wan and Leia show and it's just not what I wanted from this. I do think there is room for stories about Leia or Luke as children but I don't think this was the show for it. Reva started great but her redemption arc completely fell flat. When there was lightsaber duels I thought they were better than anything Disney has done in live action so far. At the end of the day solid show but I'm officially ready to move on from characters I love and onto new characters and new eras that will continue to grow the franchise.

Good to see Qui-Gon again. The Anakin/Darth Vader dialogue was also good.

Leia was like the best part of the first 4 episodes….

Well that’s just not true. The chase scenes with Leia are probably the worst scenes in the entire show.

The only episode I felt dropped the ball in terms of focusing on Kenobi himself was the fourth. It would have been nice to get a breather in there with him reflecting on having just seen Anakin/Vader for the first time in ten years. I know there was the Bacta tank scene, but that just didn't feel like enough.

That said, I think the rest arc rather nicely.

Dope last episode. My only gripe was that everything seemed to happen so quick in one episode. I think they could have easily made this an 8 episode series instead of 6 to pad it out a bit.

I'd be down for another season.

My god that was perfect. I loved every minute of it. I am fully team No Season 2. Just let this be the end because they absolutely fucking nailed it.

ugh brb gotta go watch again.

The show was a success and the whole crew wants another season, so I’m just going to accept now that it’s gonna happen even though it ended perfectly. If I am getting it, I hope it’s an Obi-Wan & Vader show but they have completely separate plots, never interact again, and give us more flashbacks of the two of them.

The finale was decent. The ending of the duel was just a rehash of Rebels (though, it had some slight tweaks and Ewan + Hayden still made it effective) . As for the rest of the duel, I wish it had been more restrained. At times it felt too close to that awful YouTube reimagining of the New Hope duel. The end of Reva's arc was really well done though. There is probably a better version of this where it is just her as the antagonist. And yea, that version is probably a more focused, movie length story. Overall, this was solid, though I don't think it'll be that memorable over time.

On Disney+ it’s advertised as Season Finale, not series.

I fully expected Vader to say something about having the high ground when he pushed Obi-Wan into that pit.
