It looks like a new 18-track album called 'Dark Magic' is coming out on February 9th, which looks to be his first release as an independent artist since his 2015 debut.

No news on the album cover art or track list just yet.

There's a few song snippets floating around, definitely is more in line with 'Reaper' and 'Ruiner' era to me.

Yeah, this is definitely more like 'Reaper' and 'Ruiner' style. Don't let the 18 songs list scare you, most of the songs are ~2 minutes, 3 tops. Really good and consistent record.

Yeah, it clocks in at around 40 minutes so a standard album runtime. Definitely can see why he's branding it as a mixtape.

    Here's the full album stream.

Very enjoyable. Nothing wildly groundbreaking but it's cohesive and more along the lines of the older stuff. Excited to see what else comes this year since he said he is not touring at all and just making as much music as possible.

As a slight side-note, this is his partner's project called spill. who dropped her debut EP a week or so ago and nothing, nowhere. produced it.

It's more on the post-hardcore/metalcore side of things.

Really liking this album. His last one didn't hit me as much

This rules. Feels like it came straight out of the 2018 Ruiner era. Radio snippets work great and the songs all flow together well.

Trauma Factory was solid but had some real duds on there and the metalcore/full band thing he went for on Void Eternal fell flat live so it’s cool to see a return to form.

I can't stop listening to this. Might be my favorite album of his.

    Cannot get enough of this!

I wasn’t big on Void Eternal when it originally released but after doing a discography run this week I feel like it’s pretty on par with what started on Trauma Factory.

Been listening to Trauma Factory-Void Eternal-Dark Magic straight through at least 2X a day this week

That's interesting to hear him be so candid about it. I did notice a lot of the venues got downgraded on that. He went from a 1800 to a 600 person room in Denver when I saw him and it was maybe 3/4 full. Was a bummer. Fun album but definitely feel like Dark Magic is more of the area he thrives.

Yeah I loved that tour, but feels like it was more harmful to the nn. “Brand” than not.

That tweet isn't shocking and more so confirms what most people could have assumed. Swung big but just didn't get the reception from current fans and probably didn't bring anyone new in. Glad that this album seems to be a return to form and hopefully puts him back on the track he was on prior.
