I like the album but... yeah, no way is this accurate.

Did NME really say that? I'd say it's a more diverse(?) sounding album then any of his previous solo stuff, but I've only listened once, so it may be too early to make that call.

Since this is what we're all here for, my initial (and unfair) impression is that Liam's album is better. The one two of "She Taught Me How to Fly" and "Be Careful What You Wish For" is very nice though.

I absolutely am enjoying Liam’s LP more. There are a handful of songs on Noel’s that are decent and the bonus track is classic NG but yeah, Liam has outdone him this time out.

Man... I think I may enjoy Liam's solo album more too.

This is my least favorite Noel album... Granted I've only listened to it in full three times.

Some great tracks but it just doesn't work as much for me as the other two.

"If Love is the Law" is the easy standout for me. "She Taught Me How to Fly" and "Holy Mountain" are also winners.

I've only given this about 3 full listens so far, but I think I prefer this over Liam's album. Both are good, though.

I've only listened once. The first listen of Liam's was more immediate than my first listen here, but this feels like it will be a grower.

Dead in the Water is definitely one of my favorite Noel songs post-Oasis.
Keep on Reaching and If Love is the Law are also big standouts.

Here's a really interesting interview where he breaks the album down track by track

Biggest takeaway for me was when he talks about Dead in the Water. Apparently he wrote it within an hour and this recording was the first time he played it for anyone. The keyboard player had never heard it before and made up all those parts as it went along, all in the first and only take.

    The rivalry is back on

I like this a lot more than I was expecting to. This is very good.

    Just a friendly reminder

This is much more interesting than Liam's album for sure, and I enjoy the 90's-style excess and ambition quite a bit. Way better than it has any right to be.

Liam's album has really really grown on me, definitely the best thing he has done since Oasis ended and that album rivals some of the lower/mid-range Oasis albums too. I only gave this album one listen so far, but I definitely enjoyed it, will listen more before I add much more opinion

Not that it needs to be done -- or even matters because I like both -- but I think Liam's is better.

I pick Noel's over Liam's, just because the latter has a few duds. I'll be fine never hearing "When I'm in Need," "Chinatown" or "I've All I Need" ever again.

Still a great album, though, and miles above Beady Eye.

out of everything in 2017, i think liam putting out better content than noel was one of the most surprising

Anyone listen to the Black Star Dancing EP?

I’ve listened to it a few times. It’s pretty good, lots of different sounds across the three songs. I’ll probably visit more when the other EPs come out and I can jam the tracks together for more of an album length

Yeah I agree with this. Pretty good stuff.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I like that EP but it won't get as much replay as his other stuff I think (neither has Who Built the Moon? apart from a few highlights to be fair)

still think the first High Flying Birds album is his best shit since, uh, Morning Glory honestly

Who Built the Moon is one of my favorite things he’s done in ages, but I know that’s probably a minority opinion lol

I will give you that "Dead in the Water" and "She Taught Me How to Fly", maybe a couple others are absolutely primo Noel but I can't remember how most of the rest goes. I should really give it a retry
