Definitely weren’t lying about speaking to the kid in me. I would have adored this as a kid.

 

From what I’ve seen, they seem to think it’s $70 for cardboard (not, y’know, the game)

 

I wonder how they’re going to package the cartridge in. Are these 2 different games?

Or will it be just 1 game with download codes depending on what pack you got

 

not trying to diss anyone here but this gave me a laugh.

 

Am I crazy or does that robot kit require roughly 6 individual joy-cons? One for each foot/hand, one in the back, one on your head? Homeboy in the video looks loaded up.

 

In the near future everything will be operated by joycons

 

Nintendo Labo kits apparently not mandatory, cardboards pattern will be offered for free (cartridge still needed) - Nintendo Everything

I’ve been convincing my coworker/friend since March to buy a Switch by showing off Zelda/Mario and other cool things you can do with a joycon and failed every time.

I casually showed him Labo and all he said was, “alright I’m buying a Switch.”

Seriously?! All year I’ve been trying and that is what gets him to buy a Switch.

 

Nintendo = smart

 

I've seen more stuff like this. I doubt it's malicious, they probably don't have enough resources devoted to it. They need to fix that though, fast.

On the other hand, tons of bad random shovelware games are coming out - those publishers seem to know how to get their games on the eShop.

 

The games media takes on Labo are coming in hot and are predictably terrible. It's like Reddit.

 

Adults mad about a toy

 

It’s funny because I feel like all the responses I’ve seen with people who have kids/younger siblings/family members (you know, the actual target demographic) is that the kids are super hyped on it

I think it looks really cool, although not for me personally

 

They also joke about it being cardboard which is dumb, especially about a product coming from Japab

 

Making it cardboard is genius - easy to print, light, easy to fold/build/decorate, incredibly cheap to produce, Nintendo is going to make so much money on this thing.

 

Japan has been making incredible things (from toys to fucking furniture and walls) out of paper for.. thousands of years?

 

Plus it's socially and environmentally conscious

 

My local news station just did a story on the Labo and they were calling the entire thing “Toycon” for the whole story

 

despite my total Grinch takes in here, it is a REALLY cool idea and I'm sure the target demo will absolutely love it

but now that they've, like, re-invented the toy or whatever, can I just get a port of Sunshine already

 

Yes but you have to use the Robot Labo kit as your F.L.U.D.D. :)

 

Look at the 3DS still going strong.

 

Yeah it's doing great, better than in some previous years
