I loved Chinatown Wars, it certainly deserved better sales.

I bought a PS4 for RDR so I hope it doesn't come to Switch haha

 

Chinatown Wars was insanely ambitious for the original DS. Great game.

 

The following comes from Takayuki Kawasaki, territory manager for Epic Games Japan...

"- Switch does indeed support Unreal Engine
- a lot of titles coming that are using Unreal Engine technology on Switch
- this includes releases of already announced major titles and new games
- hoping the Japanese console business picks up more steam from Switch’s arrival
- Dragon Quest XI will be using Unreal Engine 4."

I'm getting really excited to see what third party titles are coming

 

Impatiently waiting for the 12th. I check reddit switch and Nintendo so many times a day.

Hoping a lot of the indies move to switch. A first world problem I have with that is I never really know if I prefer a game to be played at home or on the go until I start spending time with them. It's cool we can now do both in one console.

Also have Terraria, bit.trip runner on Steam and on 3DS. And Dont Starve on Steam and Wii U.

 

Is PS4 not selling well in Japan? I knew consoles sales were down in Japan in general but didn't realize they were down that much.

 

I thought it was Xbox 1? If PS4 isn't selling well then what are the majority playing?

EDIT: I realized it was kind of dumb responding to a question with another question. Haha.

PS4 sells 4 million in Japan

 

I only asked because in @circasurviver's above post Takayuki Kawasaki was quoted as being hopeful that Japan's console market will see growth when the Switch launches. Didn't realize it was that bad that Japanese developers are talking that way about it.

 

Loved it and that was even after I was used to the GTA games on the PSP.

 

The PS4 isn't selling well enough in Japan. It's only doing okay compared to the other consoles, but that does not mean much. The majority of the people that still play dedicated video game devices (those that have not moved on to phone games completely) largely play and buy the two handhelds. Also, it's my understanding a lot of PS3s are still in use. I'm assuming they hope the Switch can revive the console business because it is a also handheld and the only replacement for the 3DS and the Vita (both of which get a lot of support still).

 

Just got up super early and waited in line for an NES classic only to be about 4 people too late. A handful of Targets got 3-4 but this one got 12. The smallest part of me wants to just bite the bullet and pay double on eBay but I can't let them win! At the same time feeling very frustrated that I can't just walk into a store at a given time and just buy the damn thing.

The Switch better not be like this thing

 

Finally took time with my Birthright lunatic run and finished it.

I'm just starting Conquest haha.

 

A lot of rumors and chatter coming in hot and heavy now. Several sources on a variety of claims, with varying degrees of credibility.

-GameStop Switch preorders opening Jan 13th.

-Mother 3 coming to Switch VC in Q2.

-Zelda will be at launch. More details coming in the next issue of Game Informer.

-RE7 coming to Switch. Possibly with VR support.

- BGE2 is code named Odyssey. Is a 1 year Switch exclusive. Teaser will be shown Jan 12th.

-Rabbids Kingdom Battle is the title of the Mario x Rabbids RPG due out in September.

I need to pull a Cartman and freeze myself until the 12th.

 

It took me some time to get into as well, but by the end I was really enjoying myself.

 

So now we have conflicting reports about Breath of the Wild. At least it seems like GameInformer will be clearing things up. I wonder how that's going to work re: more information coming from GI, though, because they usually announce their new issues (and release the digital version) well before the 12th of the month (for reference, the last cover reveal, featuring Prey, was on December 1st; the month before that, featuring Mass Effect: Andromeda, was on November 7th) . If Nintendo is saving all of these details and surprises for the 12th, I wonder what GI is going to do in the meantime. They certainly wouldn't be allowed to release the digital magazine on, say, the 7th and spoil much of what Nintendo was planning to discuss on the 12th.

 

I drove all around town looking for a 3ds or 2ds for my girlfriend today. Why is it so hard to get one?

 

Good point... Maybe if Nintendo offered them exclusive coverage GI agreed to the stipulation of waiting until the 12th.

 

Had to be. Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. We'll know for sure if we don't get any cover announcement from them in the next couple days over at their website.

 

A combination of good holiday deals, Pokémon Sun/Moon and NOA's inability to gauge demand.

 

So now I'm seeing on Neogaf the new GI will be out by the end of the week. So there goes that theory, might be throwing that rumor in the unlikely category.

 

Yeah I mean who knows? It wouldn't be the first time they adjusted their normal timetable to fit with an announcement that was outside of their control. Jut last month, the Prey cover reveal was moved up to the 1st and announced the same night as the Keighleys because GI had to coincide it with the trailer being shown that night. And the 1st is earlier than they usually do it (later in the first week of the month is normal). They did it so early, in fact, that the last two features of the Mass Effect: Andromeda month were posted after the reveal of the Prey cover. So there is a precedent for their being willing to disrupt the normal procedure for a big scoop. So maybe Neogaf is wrong? I don't know.

It's just such a mystery at this point still, but at least we don't have that long to wait anymore to find out. The problem for me (and everyone else, I assume), though, is that the closer it gets the more anxious I'm becoming haha.

 

Persona 5 Will Not Be Coming to the Switch

 

That must mean Sony is putting some money into that game, since it was originally meant to come to the Xbox and now is only coming to PS

 

Ugh. What a long wait. And then it's gonna be an even more gruelling wait for March
