I have played docked for about 4 minutes

 

Of course a moose and a cobra don't like motion controls, they dont have thumbs and have to hold the controller all fucky

Gonna have to play around with the Nintendo app before I write if off completely, but if I really can't answer a text with out voice chat disconnecting as suggested by some of the wording then I am never using it.

 

Believe it or not, the official FAQ addresses this and states clearly that doing anything else on your phone will disconnect you. Like, I can't even. Nintendo? What? Why? Who?

Oh and the screen has to stay on.

 

Holy shit. Nope. I will use the app to view leaderboards and whatever, using Discord for voice chat.

Like, you can't even talk to friends without having an active session. No pre-lobby chat to get everyone on the same page. No in game audio through the app. Insanity.

Lmao Nintendo should have just sticked to their guns and said no voice chat on our side. It's fucking dead anyway. People talk about voice chat like it's a thing but I play a lot of Xbox One online games and sometimes I plug in the headset and there is usually nothing, let alone anything productive. All good voice chat has moved to private chats on third party apps.

 

The reaction to this is unanimously poor in a way I haven't seen in a while, curious to see how/if they address it

 

They won't because most people won't care either way. Integrated voice chat is a non issue (especially for Nintendo) that appears important because there is a vocal minority but the average consumer sees none of this shit.

 

Fucking hell, Nintendo.

it will disconnect you from the chat, not in game. and when you go back, it goes back in to chat. it's really not that big of a deal.

Curious where the Splatooners here stand on that. I always used the joystick personally but see a lot of others on Twitch using motion control.

 

It's been discussed. Me and Cobra are right in saying that motion controls in Splatoon are terrible and the rest is tragically misguided and I hope they find the light ;D

 

i havent tried it out in splatoon but i have never in my life had a positive experience with motion controls, even if i enjoy the game all i think is how much better it would be if i didnt have to use motion controls.

 

this is me in every game except for splatoon

 

I'm almost positive I will be using traditional controls. I missed the trial this weekend but playing through the tutorial was almost exhausting using motion controls. never played Splatoon 1 so I'm an open book. I guess we'll find out soon enough!

 

Same except I actually don't mind them in breath of the wild either. Although I guess their uses are more subtle and less common. I can only really think of using them with archery and with some of the runes, although those I use as more of a hybrid between motion controls and joystick
