new Animal Crossing is going to rule. Excited what they're going to do next. Maybe more customization options for your town. More slots for custom designs. More corny one liners.

And yeah it has gotten bigger. I know people who bought a 3DS, bought AC and didn't play anything else. I think that MH, and Pokemon are games that people would be willing to buy a console for.


My only gripe with ACNL was that I never became neighbors with Snake.

 

the one thing i dont like about animal cossing is that when i dont play for a while all the people in my town get angry at me. so like now i havent played in a few months and im discouraged to do so because i have to repair friendships with everyone

Definitely my most wanted outside of like... Mario, Zelda and Pokemon games which are all expected and immediate purchases from me

 

the fact that it has been 12 years since the last sidescrolling metroid game is an injustice

 

It is kind of weird though that Ninty hasn't covered the metroidvania genre department in a long time. unless, I'm missing some games?

 

@SpyKi Right. You might be having the wrong expectations though. Fire Emblem on the 3DS doesn't nearly look as "good" as it could given the power of the platform (the amazing cutscenes excluded). There is a reason for that. Just look at the last FE game on a console, the one on the Wii, and then compare it to Mario Galaxy or Skyward Sword or any other major Nintendo game on that platform. I would not expect FE on Switch to look much better than that game (which frankly isn't much better than the 3DS games, and it was less successfull for Nintendo than the 3DS games), just more high res.

This applies even more to other series that have become or started as handheld series during the DS/PSP/3DS/Vita era. They will either largely remain the way they are now, with incremental visual upgrades, or become bad mobile games, or go away completely.

@zigbigwig I think Persona 5 could happen. It really comes down to whether or not Sony is partly paying for that game. It was supposed to come to the Xbox at some point, but that plan died during the Xbox One/PS4 era. It's why the Persona 4 spin-offs and Catherine (which uses the engine developed for Persona 5) were on the Xbox 360. The question is if they gave up on that plan because the Xbox One is not worth it for them, especially in Japan, or because Sony stepped in with some money. If the latter is not the case, I'm sure that they are looking at a Switch release, because as I said before, handhelds are the more important platforms in Japan.

As far as Metroid goes: most sources say that Nintendo Japan basically doesn't care and doesn't see a big enough market for a Metroid game in the style of Super Metroid, especially in Japan, where Metroid never really did well. So yeah I would not count it. The chances for a Prime game are higher I think.

 

Fire Emblem is becoming a (hopefully not bad) mobile game, in some form due out first quarter next year along with a mobile Animal Crossing. Granted like Pokémon Go and Mario Run they will probably be some variant of the core games.

 

Yeah, they'll be the Mario Run/Pokemon Go equivalents

 

Possibly a minigame involving the weapon triangle or something

Question: I'm finally getting internet at home. Besides Splatoon, what are some good wii u games with competitive online? I've always loved FPS and was wondering about buying a pro controller and Black Ops 2. Is this a bad idea?

Edit: saw it came out way back in 2012 so I'm assuming I'd be the only one playing haha

Mario Kart 8 is great online. Smash is fun but timed battles are the worst.

With a 3ft controller cord, I don't see that being very functional the way my living room is set up. I'm too old to sit on the floor and play video games. Plus I own most of the games on VC.

 

So at 6am pst I found 1,200 folks online. Around half were in team death match. It took about 2 minutes to get into my first match, but then it ran smooth with no delays for the next 10 rounds

Supposedly next Sunday starts the Target buy 2 get 1 game free sale. I want to get some combination of Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox Zero, Paper Mario: Color Splash, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I really, really wanted to love Xenoblade Chronicles X, but I just got so bored with it. I didn't even make it to getting my first Xeno-mech. One day I plan on picking it back up and trying to finish it, but right now it just feels like the last thing I want to do.
