Extra 20 a year is probably fine

 

An extra $20 for N64 and Genesis? Big doubt. I imagine a yearly subscription will go from $20 to $30.

If it does jump to $40 a year I’ll still pay, but I wouldn’t expect it to jump that high until they add GameCube.

 

Really hope we get save states at the very least.

 

Would so much rather have gotten an OOT/MM physical release than being added to an extra subscription tier tbh

 

I feel this. I was really hoping for a collection like the Mario one with those two and maybe like Wind Waker or Twilight Princess

 

I've still never played Windwaker. Really hoping they release it again some day.

 

In some ways I thought WW/TP combo was more likely than OOT/MM because every Wii U game seems to come to switch but I would’ve taken either haha (and MM is the only 3D Zelda I’ve never finished so I was angling for that)

 

Anyone remember this promo for Star Fox? It came on a VHS, me and my brother thought it was hilarious and would quote it all the time as kids. That game holds such a special place in my heart.

 

I used to get all those promo videos in the mail. The DK Country one, N64 Launch video, Diddy Kong Racing, Star Fox, etc... The Banjo Kazooie one really sticks out in my mind. Jon Lovitz was the narrator and it was hilarious.

 

I think I'm throwing in the towel on Eastward. I'm not having fun at all with chapter 3. Basically you spend an hour walking around talking to people and it feels so fruitless and boring.

 

saw Rogue Legacy was on sale, figured now's the time to check it out. it's really fun actually! i was a little skeptical of it cuz of the art style but it's not bad.

 

Haven’t touched my switch in almost a year, last game I played was Luigi’s Mansion 3, but a friend just lent me a few games that I’m excited to dig into.

I had a blast with all of those

 

I'm still really liking it. I think the NPC's are better in this chapter than they were in Chapter 1, which I thought was more boring than this one.

 

I'm glad you're enjoying it. Each to their own.

But my main gripe is that the NPC's talk entirely too much. There was a part in chapter 3 where everyone was standing in that upstairs kitchen talking about food and I didn't think it was gonna end. And more NPC's kept showing up and adding to the conversation and nobody would shut the fuck up. So much pointless dialogue. And the tasks they send you on around town feel so empty.

Really, I mostly like just fighting shit. Even that feels pointless sometimes because if you encounter an enemy that is giving you trouble there really isn't any point in fighting it because you can just walk right past it and go to the next screen. The best parts of this game are the ones where you are forced to fight enemies and you can't leave the area until they're dead. Not enough of those moments in the game, IMO.

 

Crazy how all the reviews of Eastward seemed good, but most of y’all are saying the same things. Glad I waited.

I think paying to play online multiplayer is shitty and I think there's much about the Nintendo online experience that's shitty on top of that but I don't get the "Switch online is literal worst value in gaming" thing - like dudes for a decade you paid $60 a year where literally the only thing of value that got you was Halo multiplayer. Decent Mario Kart & Smash online + 90% of the good games from NES and SNES is not an unreasonable $20 imo.

 

The value of Switch Online is obvious it’s just very Nintendo that they’re upping the cost just for the privilege of playing 20-25 year old N64 games when that has been a frequently-requested feature for forever now.

And also when they could be making money selling them on the eShop a la carte for people who don’t want to subscribe. But they want that recurrent revenue, so.

 

Started playing 3D World. Pretty great so far

 

Eastward is a bummer for me too. I dont see myself going back to it any time soon. Dialogue going way too long is obnoxiously annoying to deal with in JRPGS.

Ive had many moments in JRPGs where i felt the dialogue was going too long but it was just a moment here and there.

Eastward is just a regular occurrence of that and then its just playing with a very bare bones combat system.
