Is the twist that you actually go west?

 

Did anyone else have the WCW vs nWo games on N64? I can't even put into words how much fun those games were when playing with friends at a sleepover or whatever. Up there with Goldeneye and Mario Kart.

So much of this merch is decently priced, but has incredibly annoying PUMA branding on it that makes it just a straight no buy. Bummer.

 

I saw that Eastward was made by a Chinese developer, that is interesting, you still don't see that a lot, especially not in these kinds of games

 

I’ve been watching a lot of eastward reviews (FOMO from being away from my switch) and the reviews are giving it lots of criticism yet they’re scored fairly high, especially given the nature of the criticism paired with the length of the game.

I played WCW vs Raw or something like that on N64 a lot. Not sure if it was good (are there actual good wrestling games? The first two Def Jam games maybe?), but we played a lot of it.

 

How is everyone liking eastward? I'm not very far, just chapter 2, but not in love yet.

 

thats puma branding and its the worst I think the uniqlo collab was done better since they don’t ever put their brand name on it

I like it a lot, and the story is getting more interesting the further I get into the game. If I have one complaint, it's that sometimes there is just way too much dialogue.

Edit: This game is a LOT weirder than I expected it to be.

 

Hey ya'll Trials of Mana is 19.99 on the eshop right now. Easily one of my favorite JRPGs of the past few years. That's a steal right there.

I dont mind lots of dialogue but it has to grip me and be engaging. Eastward hasn't done that yet, i'll give it more of a shot though, idk when.

 

I think Bowser's Fury is only okay. It's pretty fun but really repetitive. I "finished" it (got 50 cat shines and beat the last Bowser fight) and I honestly don't really feel the need to 100% it. I enjoyed it for the most part and the open world is cool and it looks really nice but I think I had my fill. Really cool add-on for the already existing 3D World though

Think I'm gonna finally play the new Paper Mario next

 

how far are ya’ll into Eastward?

 

I'm about 7 hours in. Chapter 3 is a bit of slog.

 

bummer, I'm really into what ever the hell is going on in this world - also in chapter 3. I like the kind of Eleven/Hopper relationship going on between Sam and John.

 

I'm struggling with this because on the whole I think it's a very good game and the plot is mysterious and interesting. But it's kind of jarring to go from completing a mission to an hour of exposition without any real gameplay. Also, the game crashed during one of those segments and I had to watch everything all the way through a second time.
