what’s the gameplay? it looks right up my alley from what is shown so far.

the hover car clips remind me a lot of Syndicate Wars (yes the late 90s isometric sci fi game) and that makes me excited

I think it's like an adventure game or a walking simulator or something like that

it's weird because i haven't even finished XC2 but I'm so excited to own the new XC haha.

I've mostly been playing XC2, Picross S2 and Animal Crossing. I didn't realize how crazy good I was at a Picross until I finished a 15x15 puzzle under 4 minutes while taking to my wife.

It's a useless skill with or without pandemic, but I'm still proud of it.

Can someone explain the new Animal Crossing to me in absolute layman's terms? I tried to explain it to my wife but I've never played an AC game. I'm trying to recommend something relaxing because she gets frustrated easily with Spyro lol

you’re a villager in a town full of animals, and you basically just chill and do stuff there - make furniture, design houses, collect fruits, bugs. the game also progresses in real time, so an hour in real life is an hour in-game. they also observe holidays and seasons. so if it’s winter it’s snowing, if it’s october it’s halloween. for the more artistic people there’s also a way to design patterns and put them on shirts, hats and other items. it’s like playing a game where your only goal is to be on a vacation

a few activities you can do
    • collecting fish
    • collecting bugs
    • plant trees and flowers
    • grow fruits
    • crafting furniture
    • collect fossils
    • display bugs, fish and fossils in what is arguably the best museum in videogame history (is that even a thing?)
    • pimping your home
    • pimping your island
    • improving your island in various ways
    • talking to your neighbors
    • going to other people’s islands
    • shop clothes
    • design clothes
    • hanging out with other players
    • getting into a fake stock market with turnips

nintendo also just announced they are planning to support the game for years to come. just recently they added shrubs, and the fake/real painting seller

your enjoyment of the game heavily depends on the type of person you are. for example my wife is a better designer than me, so her town is amazing and mine is just full of trees (but ii like my forest island) but we both enjoy talking to our animal neighbors. some people like cross breeding flowers to get the color they want, but i hate doing that and probably never will.

I didn't get my Wii U until late 2015, but the battery on the Gamepad is about half an hour now. You can't go very far from the charging dock.

Replace that thing. A new battery that last longer than the one that’s originally came with the system as well.

I am almost finished the Wii/Wii U games I own so I can fully move on from the system. I keep finding excuses to not play ZombiU and Metroid: Other M.

I bought a WiiU last year specifically to play Wind Waker. Walmart then had the first Mario Maker for $5 so I grabbed that too. I’ve yet to play it. It’s still wrapped.

I didn't play games for over a decade until I saw Super Mario Maker and had to have it. It actually turned out to be mediocre because of how bad most user-created levels are.

You “just” have to look for them and follow the right creators.

Anyway, SMM2 is better because it has more options but the level creation on the WiiU Gamepad was better than it is on the Switch.

I've been scouring eShop for an FFTA2 type of game for months now (recently I was looking at Children of the Zodiarcs but I read it relied too much on RNG, so now I'm on ebay on a bidding war to get a cheap copy of FFTA2 lol

i hate that SE still hasn't released a proper follow-up to that
