Peyton and Brady both have that, to an extent. While conversely someone like a Seattle or New Orleans have had much more competitive divsions where its harder to build the dynasty

I’d argue going to nine Super Bowls kind of eliminates a lot of luck involved. That’s the most consistent success any team has ever had in the NFL. Sure playing in a shitty division helped but NE also had to go through the Colts every year and some pretty great Steelers teams. Also being first in your division every year you have to play the other the division winners in the AFC in the regular season who they regularly beat.
The AFC was definitely more too heavy than the NFC most of those years so I get what you guys are hinting at, I just think consistently winning shows it wasn’t luck.

The funny this is the two SB’s they lost were to the two worst teams they ever played in the SB lol

And Id say are two examples of horrible luck going against them in both the Eli plays...

Barkley tore his ACL. Any chance the Giants had is gone.

    The rivalry is back on

I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive. They probably had the most impressive sustained level of success I will see in a big 4 sport led by an all-time great QB and HC, and also the NFL playoffs being a single elimination tournament in a sport with a lot of variability at the end of a 16 game season requires a good deal of situational and injury luck to win in any given year, much less in many years. I’d buy “they were THAT good” if they consistently thumped every team along the way to their Super Bowl wins, but the Rams SB two years ago was the first one that they won by more than a possession and I’m sure you can find “that shouldn’t have happened” moments in every one of those Super Bowl wins in the same way that the Giants losses were specifically mentioned. They are an all-time great and also had to be lucky to reach the heights they did

In the equation of “is it better to be lucky or good” the Patriots chose “both” and I don’t think that’s a knock on their success.

I love SSS. Idk if it was that Cousins looked awful or if the Colts’ D looked great, but regardless, I’ll take it

Cousins played like the worst QB in the NFL which he does like twice a year. Then he looks elite for like 5 games, then below average for the rest.

I want to posit a theory here. I might be wrong but I have thoughts on this. I'm using the Bills-Titans game from last year as a point of reference since I was there and the Bills won in large part due to Cairo Santos going 0-4.

As they've churned through like 7 kickers since the start of last season, are they still using the same long snapper and holder the entire time? Like, I know that Santos and Greg Joseph and Cody Parkey and a possibly still injured Ryan Succop and Gostkowski coming off a hip (?) injury isn't really the BEST selection of kickers. But isn't it weird that every single one of them has sucked major ass as a Titan specifically? At what point does the team start to wonder if maybe it's not JUST the kicker that is the problem.

It's like the Chargers. They had the same long snapper for a long, long time, and I remember reading that other teams were tipped off to the snap count because he spun the ball right before he snapped or something. And once they cut him, suddenly they stopped having a million kicks and punts blocked. But man did they run through a carousel of specialists before that happened.

Not only is it the same guy (Beau Brinkley), they just extended him!

I guess it could be the holder too. Do they use Brett Kern or a backup QB? It's gotta be something other than the kickers at this point. It's just so many guys that have been SO BAD with them that you have to start to think it's any other part of the equation

It's incredible how Herbstreit never did any NFL before last week and him/Fowler/Rece/pretty much whoever can run circles around Witten/Booger/Tess.

Absolutely. Plus I don’t see the point of the three man booth ESPN thinks they need to have.
