I've gone to probably 40-50 different venues in Manhattan & Brooklyn but have somehow never been there. I'm interested to hear about it!

played there a few weeks ago. venue rules. sound is solid, had no issues with hearing on stage. if you're playing with backing tracks, just make sure those are raised in the mix a bit, they were a little low for us, but wasn't bad. vibe of the venue is one of the coolest i've been in

If you guys like emo night things check out My Emo Romance. Just saw them last night at Rockwood Music Hall was fun. They even played a say anything song I felt like I was the only one that knew it lol. They're playing again next month. Last night was their first show

Just a heads up that COVID cases have spiked here dramatically over the past few weeks or so. Good news is that the majority of them appear to be mild but since we're still in the stage where if you test positive you're expected to quarantine for 5-10 days, advise wearing mask/being careful whenever out.

I saw a tweet that 7 people have tested positive after the Hot Mulligan show Friday night at LPR, I know of one other person who tested positive after going. I tested negative today, but someone in my office just came in with it....

a friend of mine's sister works at an urgentcare here on the island and said their daily positive rates are back up to 14% and at the peak of covid they were at 21% - so - morale is low.

I feel like it's inevitable everyone will get it again. I have a lot less worry knowing pretty much everyone is vaccinated. Just get your booster, wear your mask when you're supposed to or just want to, and try to accept this is endemic and not going away.

Such a good show! I was negative, but I know of 5 more people who were at the show that got it.

It's absolutely flying around my friend group and family right now. This spike seems almost right in line with the one last year around this time (although I think last years might have come slightly earlier). My girlfriend works at a post-acute rehabilitation center and there's an outbreak there, too. I feel like it's only a matter of time before I get hit with it also.

We're planning to do a day out in the city tomorrow but we're a little hesitant about it given the outbreak at her job. Was really looking forward to The Woman In Black at McKittrick. Hoping she tests negative today.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Nothing about LCD Soundsystem felt safe on Monday. Gonna get a test today but feel totally fine (3x Moderna).

My wife and I are flying internationally on Wed to see her parents. Everyone cross their fingers that we can 1) test negative 2) get a fucking test with these lines. LabQ seems to be the best option in the city for those who are wondering.

I'm going to a show at Irving Plaza at the end of January, hopefully we are past the peak of this wave by then and things are looking better. I live in NJ and had tickets to a show last week here that I ended up not going to partly because of cases spiking. I'm boosted so I'm not really worried but obviously I'd prefer not to catch covid lol.

But speaking of Irving Plaza, anyone who has been to it, how do you like it compared to other venues of that size? I've never been to it before.

End of Jan I would like to think would be near this potential wave ending, which would allow you to go. But that's a guess really.

Irving is a cool venue for its size. I'm not crazy about the overall design though. It often feels oversold, and can be tough to hit the bathroom and get back to where you were.

Seems like lots of places are shutting down until new years eve. I guess if the goal is to shut down so people can spend time with their families without worry it makes sense. But not like anything gonna change in two weeks.

Irving isn't my favorite venue but not my least fav either. I agree that even if a show isn't sold out it feels very crowded. They used to have the soundboard on the floor, but the last time I was there for Envy On The Coast they moved it upstairs & it feels a lot better

I haven't been to Irving since the renovations, but I have a soft sport for it because I went to say many of my formative shows there in like 2003-2005. If you're not under the balcony overhang, it's solid.

Crazy how back in 2003 - 2005 I felt like I was there once a month. I think the last time I was there was in 2012 though.
Hoping to head back there next year for that Knuckle Puck/Hot Mulligan/Meet Me at the Altar show.

I have fond memories of Irving Plaza as I've seen Green Day and Foo Fighters play some excellent intimate shows there along with a TON of other bands. Getting stuck under the balcony overhang sucks and, these days, think I prefer the similarly-sized Webster Hall.

did they make irving smaller with the renovations? i was there a little over a week ago for the first time in like 11 years and it seemed so much smaller

Funny timing—came across this photo the other day. My 9th grade self in 2003 at Irving Plaza for Matchbook Romance and Fall Out Boy (fresh off TTTYG if I remeber right) opening for...Mest.
