I don't mind Resurrection. It has a few of my favorite NFG songs on it (including the bonus songs), but its a shame that it sounds like an incomplete record given the production and how I feel like a lot of songs have room for improvement.

this album has quickly become a cool and rare middle of the venn diagram for my partner and i. she loves covers and is a big Pitch Perfect/a capella stan and i sent her the Spotify link to Cups on Friday and she spun the whole thing and loved it

“Stubborn” is a top 5 NFG track for me.

I really like half the album, but pretty much ignore the other half.

What's the rest of the Venn diagram?

Resurrection is a really bad album outside of two or three songs

Naw dude, it’s a good album. I’d say 3 bad songs. Which are:

    Worst Person
    Vicious Love
    Living Hell.

It’s a fine album that’s desperately lacking a second guitarist. Most of the songs sound empty and lifeless.

I’ve heard those adjectives thrown around before describing the album but I guess I don’t quite understand.

  13. I agree. I think the album showed a heavier side of them, and the production really brought that home. It's a heater.

I mean, just listen to a song like Ready and Willing and then something like Understatement right after. There’s no oomph. The whole record just sounds like there’s a layer missing, it sounds hollow. The production definitely didn’t help either.

Sticks and Stones just sounds like it’s mastered louder. I feel like resurrection has more dynamics.

Edit: For Pop Punk standards, Chads guitar work on resurrection is really good.

Anyhoo, That “Power of Love” song is pretty darn good.

I should revisit Resurrection. Only one that didn’t get much love from me

I've always felt like they intentionally made it sound like there was only one guitar on every song on Resurrection to make a point

100% agree with these. I understand why, because they wanted to perform the songs live, but there is definitely an element missing. This was fixed on the next album.

  23. I threw on II at the gym yesterday for the first time in yeeeears. The variety of song selection is great but the covers are mostly a lot more of a snooze than I remembered them being. In comparison to the energy of III, II almost feels a little phoned in imo

Honestly the only covers I come back to from that one are King of Wishful Thinking, Kiss Me and Stay.
