So many yikes in this thread. The whole “separate the art from the artist” argument is bullshit.

 

I do not condone the terrible acts of Chad. Maybe I just don’t know what his music really can be hated for

I think the biggest yikes is that "false allegations against Steve" comment.

As for the whole separate the art from the artist argument, that's a whole other can of worms. But it's not so simple of an answer of being right or wrong. It's hard to condone a person for having an emotional connection to a piece of art, even after finding out later about the artist's behavior. For some it's easier to leave it behind than others. Brand New was one of my favorite bands, but I was surprised at how easy it was for me to never listen to them again since November 2017. For others it seemed like an impossible task, even though they were disgusted by everything that came out. I think it's important for those who continue to listen to these artists to be conscious and vocal of their actions/behavior, and going forward try and support artists who stand for things they believe in.

I do not know why I am toxic because I did not say a single bad word about you and about group. I do not know English very well, and therefore I can not find the information. There is nothing about this in the Russian community. Please understand. I do not support pedophilia or treason. I cannot fully explain my position to you. I just love this group for the music, and when I got to this forum, I learned a lot about the life of their members.

Fucking disgusting. Gotta love when you'll see people make ignorant comments like "oh he didn't know they were underage." Uh, not sure how one person could look a someone and estimate their age being 9, and another person thinking they were over 18. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Major, major burn out from listening to all of them on repeat through out my pre-teen/early teenage years. I absolutely loved them (too much) and for whatever reason, I have almost no desire to ever hear them again. Can't remember the last time I listened to Enema, New Found Glory, Ocean Avenue, etc. but I've literally listened to all of the other releases from those bands ever since with no issue.

Edit: Sorry guys, didn't mean to gloss over the existing (important) conversation. Haven't been on lately and was quoted like six pages back.

 

I wish I was lucky enough to have those albums as a pre-teen lol.
