Paramount casting SMG as a lead in a supernatural drama series before Disney gets a chance to revive Buffy feels a bit like a coup.

  2. I really hope it does but I’m not holding my breath. I’ve wondered for a long time if part of the delay is due to trying to figure out what kind of movie/show to make. I have to imagine there’s a lot of temptation to just make an HH Holmes movie because that story is shocking and gruesome, but I found Burnham’s life and the process of making the World’s Fair happen the far more interesting part of the book, and that’s what I really want to see on screen.

Also gotta catch up on Atlanta, maybe rewatch the first two seasons. And finish Better Things. And wow it's been so long since I've had FX, I just let shit pile up.

I might cancel HBO Max at the end of the month. I'm still really angry that they cancelled Batgirl. Maybe I'll resub when there's a new season of Harley or something.

Dahmer is solid so far, although it's a Ryan Murphy show so I keep waiting for it to go off the rails. But Evan Peters is great.

Don’t worry, in the last episode Ryan’s gonna make sure Dahmer’s parents come in and accept him for who he is

Dahmer stays consistent in quality, I just didn't think it was that great. I don't think Peters is a great actor and the show is kinda slow

Gotta say, the John Wayne Gacy tapes sucked. I stopped watching in the second episode. They kept jumping around with the timeline like crazy, it made it kind of confusing to follow

What do folks think of the midnight club? I started the first episode but then Netflix glitched and I didn't finish. But so far I haven't been immediately pulled in but sometimes flannigan is a bit slow burn for me

I'm watching that Dahmer show. Why does Dahmer sound like Joe Pera?

lol so at least he's aware

I agree with Joe. I want to see "Joe Pera presents: Big Buck Hunter girls do Hamlet" more than another serial killer show

It runs so deep too. Like I was even raised in it. My parents let me read their copy of Helter Skelter when I was like 10.

I know so many people who think "being into serial killers" is a personality trait. I know one serial killer/true crime obsessed girl who wrongfully accused someone else i know of stealing her Adderall and she said "I know they did it because i've been studying criminology my entire life". I bust out laughing.

Yeah like idk I grew up watching forensic files and 48 hours and stuff like that so I've always been true crime oriented but some of the fascination is too overkill for me. I've become pickier about the true crime podcasts I listen to also. Some of them are so harmful. They act like they're legit detectives and will assign suspicion to totally normal human behavior and make accusations and while I'm not normally opposed to dragging the police, sometimes the hosts are so hostile because the police won't divulge like every single clue or piece of evidence they have or because they won't provide a comment for their podcast when obv have to keep some stuff under wraps. In Crime Junkie it drives me nuts how Ashley will be like "and what she heard next made every single hair on the back of her neck stand straight up" or "her jaw dropped straight to the floor when she heard the news" like literally how would you know that?? I know they're big enough now that they have an investigator and sometimes get interviews but I doubt it's with every single one of them. So at that point ur just turning someone's trauma into ur creative writing 101 project.

It was so painful. When the guy asked what Mexicans bake I was like ????????

I was just appalled the entire time. Even if there's not a large Mexican population over there don't they have like tv and stuff?? Idk I don't expect everyone to be experts but those ppl need to find God and go to a panadería

It was bizarre they even had a bunch of bakers make tacos. There are plenty of other things they could've had them bake. Like have them do a flan in the technical or something but a taco?? It wasn't even just the contestants being clueless the show v much played up the "exoticism" imo. Paul Hollywood being grossed out by sweet corn and some of them acting like they'd never seen a tortilla. And nothing wrong with a lil milk leaking out the bottom of a tres Leche imo! They treated it like a big faux pas. Bizarre episode.

  25. That episode is yet another example of how Bake Off has worsened since Mary, Mel and Sue left - Sandi was wonderful, I miss her too. This one echoes the Japanese episode from a few years back; both reek of racism and ignorance on the producers’ parts and possibly on the judges as well
