Yeah I guess that's part of the reason why. A lot of the meta elements of it relate to the movie (which exists and is directly referenced in the series)

 

Watch the first three episodes and stop.

Yeah I just read the recap for the last episode and it just seems like the complete opposite of how the show started out. Feels like it’s from a different show. I will not be tuning in for season 2.

My wife convinced me to watch MASH with her from the beginning. We finished all 11 seasons a few days ago. The show got A LOT better after season four when Frank left the show, since he was by far the worst character. But Hawkeye Pierce has to be one of my favorite characters ever now. He was very well written and complex. A lot of the sex jokes did not age well, but it was the late 70’s, so whatever.
At first, I was worried about it’s stance toward the military and war. But the show is VERY anti-war. Hawkeye is a pacifist and the show shows how bad war really is and how fucked up the military can be. The later episodes were really cool and some experimental. My favorite is “Dreams”, a surreal episode, a la David Lynch, that focuses on a dream of each character of each character the goes into their psyche. I don’t recommend it, since it’s so long and there are some duds. If this was on now, Fox News would throw a fit about it lol.

 

Dreams is one of my favorite television episodes of all time. Saw it for the first time during a very low period in my young life as I was channel surfing and oh my god it meant so much to me. I still tell people about it.
