Erie is my hometown, this happened when I was 8. In fact, Jerry Clark, the FBI Agent they interview, is actually the head of the criminal justice department at Gannon University, where I graduated. You can see parts of campus in those aerial shots of the bayfront and the courthouse. It's just such a bizarre story, no one here has ever stopped talking about it. The documentary was excellent.

 

I haven't watched this yet. I didn't realize this happened in Erie, PA. I'm only about an hour away from Erie (I live 20 miles east of Cleveland) and have visited Erie hundreds of times. My sister went to Mercyherst (and was there in 2003) and I dated a girl who went to Gannon. I love Erie.

 

Woah! Small world. I considered Mercyherst as well. A lot of people shit on Erie, but I definitely have a soft spot for my hometown. This whole case is our weirdest claim to fame imo. I recommend giving it a watch, you'll probably recognize a good amount of the businesses and city shots

 

Yeah, I always had a great time in Erie. It's been a while since I've been there, probably 7 or 8 years, so maybe some things have changed. But between 2003-2011, I was there a lot and loved it. Great shopping, bars, restaurants, beaches, the zoo, casino. Some parts, especially right on the lake, are really beautiful.

Echoing the Evil Genius praise, super interesting and morbid. Always was fascinated by this case and it's cool to watch a series on it

 

When all my shows end in a couple weeks, I'll finally have time to catch up on Netflix. I've got Flint Town, Series of Unfortunate Events, Lost in Space, Rain, Evil Genius, and 13 Reasons (this Fri) all sitting in my queue

 

Just started watching Evil Genius. I'd only ever heard of the case when that aziz ansari pizza delivery bomb movie came out and there was criticism about the insensitivity, but I never actually looked into the case.

 

If ASOUE quit with the music numbers it'd be one of my favorite shows

 

Love a trailer that goes through the entire movie.

Is each episode of Evil Genius 1 hour? I couldn't find the runtime anywhere.

 

Yes, very very good show.

 

May try to knock it all out tonight, but 4 hours could be tough.

 

Four episodes at about 45 minutes each, a little easier to digest than Wild Wild Country imo

 

Well, they're 45-50 minutes, so how about 3.5 hours?

 

Also, once you finish one episode, you'll want to watch the next right away.

I could definitely do three hours in one sitting. I don't know why, but mentally, such a huge difference between 3 and 4 hours, haha. I'm sure once I start, I'll finish regardless of time.

I have an 8 hour flight from Amsterdam to Detroit next Friday so I'm looking to download some stuff on Netflix. Evil Genius looks good but I don't like to watch things toooooo dark/scary/depressing/etc while flying bc I do get a bit anxious. Thoughts on this? Will I be okay?

 

It's pretttty dark and depressing, as someone who tries to avoid anything too heavy when I'm already anxious I might wait on that one
