It's a adaptation but its not page-for-page. First season covered the first 3 volumes or something like that.

I haven't seen much talk about it probably for good reason, but Jupiter's Legacy is basically like one of those in universe movies in The Boys. Its so tone deaf, does absolutely nothing interesting or fun (retreading tropes we've seen a million times, done better elsewhere) while also having CW level VFX/costume design/fight choreography/dialogue. This may have worked better as an animated series like Invincible which touches on some similar themes but actually executes them amazingly well. It just ends up feeling like a generic network family drama ft. generic and unrelatable superheroes. Also just takes itself wayyyyyy too serious the whole time.

I think you're a few episodes away from it building toward more strategic stuff. I think the second half of S2 is stronger than anything from S1.

Between Jupiter’s Legacy and Thunder Force, I think it’s safe to say that Netflix sucks ass when it comes to knock-off superhero properties.

Jupiter's Legacy ruins two really really great comics. These show is so fucking boring.

Like others pointed out, you’re maybe 1-2 episodes away from exactly this happening. Certain challenges (the makeup one, trivia) are definitely designed to potentially expose catfishes, and it gets really interesting once that starts to happen.

Are there any other series like Watchmen/The Boys/Invincible, ie "if superheroes really existed then they would be terrifying monsters"? I'm a sucker for anything with that premise

I haven't watched it, but I think Umbrella Academy might be up your alley.

Recently watched Willy's Wonderland (was dumb, but I liked it - 3.5 stars), and Without Remorse (dumb, skip - 2 stars)

  11. Willys wonderland is the best movie of the year. Nic cage not speaking at all was a great decision.

but being a catfish is kinda super irrelevant. If i were on the show I'd say "he might be a dude, but it doesnt matter cause we have an alliance. The other person can be an elephant I dont' care". The whole who's a catfish doesn't matter.

Yeah I think i saw where everyone realized Emily isn't a girl but to me, who cares?

I guess there's some sort of underlining rule that the other contestants want "someone genuine" to win?

Yeah, I mean people have different motivations and there are those that come in looking for genuine friendships and relationships, whereas others are more cutthroat and playing strategically. Generally I think you have to be well-liked to be voted high, and being an obvious catfish means you're not trustworthy.

to me, the biggest problem with The Circle is that the winner is purly based on the final rankings. I think there should be other considerations made... Idk, maybe like Big Brother where there's a jury of previously evicted contestants.

Yeah, I think the obvious biggest different with The Circle and Survivor/Big Brother is in the whole premise itself. For The Circle you are still in the game, and trying to win it, so you have to try and play the system to get yourself ranked higher (ie tanking people), you aren't trying to rank the best players the highest. In shows like Survivor & Big Brother, the people voted out are the ones casting their vote, so they can't win it themselves, so it's completely diferent. If The Circle came down to 2 or 3 people at the end, and all people voted out vote for the winner, it would be a vastly different show (I would argue, a better show) where the gameplay becomes a bigger part of the actual show.

The viewers should be able to vote imo, that seems like the most obvious choice when you're already just releasing episodes on a weekly basis

I do worry that the gameplay of the show might become *too* much like survivor/big brother if a jury was involved. But honestly, “survivor but it’s only text messages” is also a great premise lol

that doesn't work for The Circle, they film it way ahead of time. That only works for something like The Voice or American Idol where it's aired live.

Yeah I feel like it makes the most sense for the finale, not necessarily every elimination. If they film it all ahead of time, I think it's really dumb they don't just release it all at once lol

There's a great premise somewhere in The Circle. It feels almost there. Overall its definitely a fine shut your brain off, let's laugh and judge all these reality show personalities, but there's a few to many things in the show that make me roll my eyes

Not releasing it all at once encourages discussion, which is the most fun part of a reality show! We’ve been talking about it for a whole month, rather than all being done in a week.

I'm confused at how little people care about winning the money. Barely anyone mentions it. They all cry about "being last in the ranking" or not winning a stupid contest...because both of those things don't really matter. But they barely ever mention "ill do what I have to do so I can win 100k"

Honeslty, one of my ideas to fix the show is the raise the prize money to 500k or million .

What if they made a rule
    - only 1 private chat per day? Or 3 chats a day? And then you can win more private chats by winning games?

You can add more to your profile by winning games. Getting certain achievements.
