To All The Boys 3 wasn't too bad. A lot better than the second, not as good as the first.

i watched CHERRY last night. didn’t hate it but it fell short of a good deal of potential. also, it doesn’t show you anything about addiction and/or ptsd you haven’t seen elsewhere. tom holland is very good though

The Handmaid’s Tale was good in S1 but I dropped it after that. So much screen time is dedicated to extended close ups of people’s faces.

Also, hate to be that person, but the book is better.

Lots of close-ups, yes, but Elizabeth Moss does so much with a facial expression. She's unbelievably good at that. I haven't read the book, but what comes after S1 is still really good, but you have to have the stomach for it.

I read the book so I’m interested. Your review is basically what I was expecting.

I think the best season of The Handmaid's Tale was the first and there have been things in the other two seasons that have frustrated me at times but overall I still think it's done a lot of great stuff. I'm excited to see what they do next season.

There's screenings out there. Variety has been doing a lot lately. Just watched Minari and Our Friend.

I imagine it's challenging continuing a show after using up all the source material, and keeping it spiritually in-line with the original content. For the most part, I think what comes after S1 generally lives up to expectation and manages to keep me invested and caring about the characters and world. I agree that there have been moments I felt uncertain where things were going, but they haven't let me down yet. I actually think the most recent season is the most nuanced in terms of portraying June as a complex character. There were moments I actually was troubled by her actions, but the writing was good enough to turn those moments into opportunities for growth. It really is a great show. Hyped to see what they come up with for next season.

had to stop Handmaid's Tale because after like a season and a half it just became torture porn for me, Elizabeth and Yvonne are great just only so much violence against women I can take

Seconded. Add the fact that my wife looks a lot like Elisabeth Moss, and it just got too difficult to deal with.

Yeah, “Handmaid’s Tale” really drowns in grief. I don’t know anyone who didn’t jump off of it after like season two.

Most recent season was noticeably lighter and more optimistic. But yeah, it's for the most part darkly tragic.
