It's not the best episode of the series but it is an absolutely unbelievable hour of TV. I've truly never felt the way I did watching that episode watching a single other thing.

One of my favorite shows ever even if it gets kind of soapy at various points of seasons 3-5. Some of the most beautifully fleshed out characters in TV history imo.

Season 6 Chang is the best Chang imo. Didn't like what they did with him in S3 and 4

Same era as Sopranos and The Wire, no? Seems like those shows are huge but this one has a much quieter audience. I do think it's more understated than those shows, takes itself less seriously. But I love that about it.

Totally agree that it was unbelievable. Holds you hostage in the same as David is, and truly harrowing.

As for the soapy elements, I dunno! Never bothered me. The performances are so strong and writing so honest to the characters that it doesn't feel overdone.

well, right, but those are the only two from that era that have really withstood to current day. who is having conversations in 2021 about, to pick another hbo show, carnivale?

Yeah, it definitely doesn't ruin the show or anything (and here 5 years later I can barely remember why I thought that, just that I did at the time). I think the Lisa story toes the line the rest of the universe of the show stays within bounds of - it's an engaging part of the series, but bucks some of heightened realism of the rest.

hm. Curb Your Enthusiasm and Sex and the City (obv different since they're comedy), Band of Brothers, Deadwood to name a few. A couple years later and other shows like True Blood and Boardwalk Empire still get occasional noise here. Six Feet Under just so happens to be an underrated banger among them.

band of brothers is a miniseries. deadwood started a half decade after sopranos. i get your point, but 1999-2002 kinda seems like it’s own “era”

yes I agree with that. the point remains tho, everyone should watch if you dig the big names. it deserves to be considered in that same league.

Oh my god local news made such a huge deal about Kate Winslet's Philly/Delco accent. It's so fucking bad in that video lol

Senior Chang and Season 6 Chang are great, but I hated Dictator Chang and Changnesia Kevin. Ruined Season 3 for me from being the best season.

Excellent decision. It's that good. BTW... You'll know what I'm talking about when you watch, but the spoof commercials stop after the pilot, just FYI. Not sure why they kept those in there but I'm glad it was just a gimmick.

Also Handmaids Tale is fantastic as well.

You mean the one where he goes, "I'm a doctor! The Hangover! My wife!" for an hour?

Yeah, Ken's latest Netflix standup was abysmal. Patton Oswalt's latest was pretty rough, too.

Ken Jeong blocked me on Twitter because I disagreed there should be a fourth "Hangover" movie.

The only good role he's had was in "Knocked Up" because he plays that pretty straight. Everything else is bad.

sometimes he's funny on The Masked Singer. Jenny and Robin make it impossible to watch tho.

Wow. HBO Max actually renewed Infinity Train for S4. Shocked but so happy I love that little cartoon.
