Watched the first episode of The Witcher.

no idea what is going on and it was only moderately engaging but I guess I’ll keep going because I eventually wanna play the third game and this might help me understand a bit of the world before diving in.

The acting / feel of this is very... SyFy channel / daytime tv. Hopefully that improves.

Seeing some people's criticisms of Witcher makes me wonder how many people don't know that the fantasy genre existed before GoT lol

Technically a network show, but it's streaming on CBS All Access, so whatever.. lol but my girlfriend and I started watching Evil with Mike Coulter and it's actually a pretty entertaining show if you're into haunting/possession kind of horror. Not really groundbreaking but we're really enjoying it

 

I knew it existed before GoT, although I couldn’t name any shows in the genre lol.

I grew up with my stepdad watching SyFy channel and Comet channel movies 24/7 so my post wasn’t necessary a dig at The Witcher it just reminded me heavily of what i grew up hearing / seeing on a tv in the background and also I know some people haaaaate that “type” of acting / filming so I posted that as maybe a warning of sorts lol

 

started watching ultimate Spider-Man in Disney Plus since I know miles comes in eventually and it’s already great.

i was going to watch that but turned it off because it said something like "animal abuse" or "abuse images" or something like that. no way can i watch something with animals being hurt - whether video or sound or picture. can anyone confirm if this is correct or did i read it wrong?

 

I haven’t seen it yet myself, but from what I understand, that is correct.

 

so far they've cut away before showing any actual abuse but the entire subject matter is extremely upsetting and there was one scene I wish I hadn't seen.

It's certainly not easy to even hear/think about

probably best to stay away if you're at all concerned that it might be too much

it doesn’t actually show anything re: the abuse but the implication of what happens is pretty explicit, yeah.

 

yeah it's all "off screen" but it's still not an easy watch
