I didn’t find Rusty’s closing statements convincing at all. He harped on “no evidence” and showed very little humanity and sorrow, unless directed at himself. By the end I hated him and was praying Barbara would leave him for good. The end is really dark in that sense. Barbara is even more trapped; he’s poisoned his family, and that sociopathy is in his daughter now too.

 

I mean there really was no evidence tho there was no way any decent jury could convict so I think he was 100% convincing in establishing reasonable doubt

 

I’ve told at least 5 close friends or family to watch it /shrug

 

I don’t think he actually thought he was guilty at first, at a certain point absolutely did, but by the end no longer believed it was him. I was not convinced at all when he directly accused rusty of placing the fire poker. he knows he didn’t do it. even when he’s bitching to guardia about it I still don’t think he truly believes rusty placed it. There was a look rusty gives Barbara in bed after the fire poker turned up that clued me in to rusty thinking Barbara had done it, that plus his reaction to her fling with cliff kind of made that obvious
edit: I’m gonna still couch everything in spoilers because I’m sure many people browsing haven’t watched and I really do recommend this show to anyone interested in a good crime drama, I thought it was fantastic 90% of the time aside from the lighting which yeah sucked and a few whatever scenes but overall the plot, the pacing, and the acting all made for the most fun ive had with a tv show in many, many years. not sure why that’s not worth a recommendation. but what do I know. it’s weird I got into it because several people seemed to really like it and now the consensus is like “yeah meh wouldn’t recommend.” very strange.

 

I think you can still get ESPN+ but it’s an add-on cost to the bundle. It seamlessly integrated with my existing Max account when I switched to the bundle.

 

Oh, I thought it was an ace season of television. Loved the whole vibe. Like I said the execution of the reveal left me wanting more, but that’s okay with me. I would still definitely recommend it to peeps. Stellar performances across the board, except maybe the kids, and great dialogue.

 

I thought the end was really bad. Felt like they went out of their way to try to make the killer the least suspected character and it made the reveal completely eye rolling. Also why on earth would Rusty not have confronted his wife sooner if he thought he knew immediately it was her? Maybe the dumbest thing was telling the daughter about the baby before you even tell Rusty. That was so forced and cringy. But even though the end and reveal we had been anticipating was completely stupid I would still recommend the show because the ride was well done and a lot of fun.

it’s pretty obvious to me why rusty wouldn’t tell her when he says “at first I definitely knew, and then I wasn’t sure, and then I knew again” even he had doubts in his own theory which turned out to be wrong in the end so yeah don’t think it’s weird he held out confronting her. another reason it’s not that weird at all is the same reason her telling the daughter about the baby isn’t weird at all: they are a severely dysfunctional family despite initial appearances. none of these characters are flawless. that’s kind of the entire message of the show, I mean rusty and Barbara need to take a real hard look at themselves and ask “how did we raise a killer?” I also don’t think the reveal was the least suspected killer not from discussions I saw elsewhere online anyway, and they left plenty of clues when you think about. the dissociating scene being the obvious one, her deep obsession with the trial that goes far beyond general concern for her dad, and just the way she acts around her parents pointed to her at certain points. sure she wasn’t as obvious as the others but I definitely saw multiple people with good reasons suspecting her before the finale. people certainly had more to go off for her than Raymond for guardia but even people suspected them. I think the reveal works and it just had a shaky landing due to the awkward scenes showing the reveal. I really wish the killing had been left to our imagination. Other than that yeah shit was great

she’s much different than the movie portrayal, i don’t really think they could have gotten away with that portrayal or should have even tried but it would have made the ending for her more consistent and less out of left field

well yeah but coming from rusty isn't really the best source lol. seems like the most they dug into her maybe not being a great person was the stuff with the son.

Carolyn was a horrible person based on what we know

 

We watched her bury evidence to get a conviction and come onto a married man with “why can’t two people just touch each other.” gross.

 

It also just got silly how many people were there on that one night. Like damn Carolyn you got 4 different people stalking you on the same night

 

oh yeah she also completely blocks her son out of her life to the point where he stalks her because he just wants to feel any connection to her

 

i was going to type something about the kid but I decided otherwise
