It's very interesting how much of a serial-killing-genius he considered himself, when in reality, it was just extreme incompentence between police forces communicating with each other that allowed him to get away with it for so long.

As someone who went into it knowing absolutely nothing about him other than being a killer, it was a really informative doc series for me.

It's so strange how fascinating serial killers are to us in general. It's a weird feeling to "enjoy" a show about someone who did some seriously evil shit.

I just hope the Zac Efron movie about Bundy doesn't glorify the guy too much. The trailer was cut in a way that seemed to kind of make light of him to me, but that could just be bad marketing. Sounds like the person behind the movie was the same person behind the doc series anyway.

From what I read of the movie, or at least the trailer, is it’s from the perspective of the females he knew before the crimes against them. So the trailer makes him seem dashing and fun and charming because that’s what he was to them (and the media). He certainly stands out as being the most “normal” looking and raised of the serial killers we know of. Not sure if the whole movie will have that tone, I suspect it takes a hard left turn to dark shit after a “light” opening 20 minutes or so (just a guess).

After watching part of You and seeing the truly horrifying reaction to the main character online, I think cooling it with serial killer portrayals that are cool and sexy and charming would be a smart move.

I lost interest in the Ted Bundy tapes but all I'd heard was how charming and great he was so idk what I expected but wow he is the worst. I mean obviously cause he was a killer but yeah worst. Things like that are fascinating to me. I encounter a lot of abusers who mask it with charm and I find it absolutely fascinating. I feel like I should find it triggering and maybe it's my messed up victims head but it's legit amusing to me sometimes how they're all so textbook and pathetic. /Csb

Yeah, I just started this last night and made it through two episodes. I like it, but the acting is not good. My daughter is also OBSESSED with Frozen so every time he speaks, I think of Kristof and it's actually really ruining the show for me.

Jonathan Geoff being in it was what got me to watch the show as soon as it came out. The plot sounded interesting but I just love him. He’s normally really great and expressive, I think the writing and direction of the show boxes him in as this unfeeling guy to play up the “becoming the monster” tropes a lot. It’s definitely an intentional choice but probably my least favorite thing about the show.

yeah i was under the impression his acting / speaking / moving like he does was very much on purpose to his character. he's neat, orderly, logical and how he acts / speaks fits that. i didn't have any issues with his acting, but it is very subjective and thinking back on it i can see why it would bug some.

my issue was how many times they'd cut away to show him just staring at the camera (whoever was talking off-screen) for like, 5-7 seconds. not sure why they did that so much the first few episodes lol

Honestly, by the third episode, his acting is totally fine for me. It's just really awful in the pilot, as if they had no time to prepare for it and read off of cue cards. Especially the dialogue between him and Debbie when they first meet in the bar. Just lots of weird pauses that don't feel natural and again, just pretty robotic in delivery between the two of them

    The Ted Bundy Tapes
    watched on: Netflix
    Grade: B

only 4 episodes / hours which is a good length because by the end i was sick of listening to Bundy talk because he certainly was a narcissistic, egotistical douchebag (among the least of his issues) and his deflecting in court and with the interviews would have pissed me off to no end with how much time he wasted in not answering questions.

i did learn a lot about him and his tale though. had no idea that he escaped from jail TWICE that was pretty wild to discover.

also, my god how did anyone get caught for crimes before DNA testing and all the surveillance we have these days??? police didn't talk to each other, no DNA testing, no internet / social media, FBI didn't even have fucking fax machines, courtroom windows opened... good lord. once time travel is discovered / mastered let's hope it's not a serial killer that does it because we'll have a real problem on our hands (at least, back then we would and maybe the whole population would be wiped out)

lastly, i found it fascinating how Bundy seemed to be the cause for all the shit lawyer and crimes shows we have these days. i mean, i'm sure eventually they'd get made, but his trial was the first of it's kind and seeing how giddy and excited all the cops and lawyers were WHILE TRYING TO CONVICT A HORRID SERIAL KILLER and how the public just ate that shit up made me realize why we are where we are for tv shows and movies and media.

    craziness all around.

Lmao Abducted in Plain Sight doc is wild. Like it's not funny but I feel like I am laughing but like incredulous laughter because wat. THE WORST DAY OF HIS LIFE WASNT EVEN WHEN HIS DAUGHTER WAS KIDNAPPED. So far I'm amazed how well adult Jan appears to be processing this given what she went thru. I heard how ridic these parents were beforehand but this is wild. Dudes brother is so nonchalant too. Like hmm weird he's so happy about being with a child but whatevs that's his deal. This girl was truly failed by everyone.

Just finished the Bundy docuseries. I honestly knew nothing about him, so this was pretty shocking. He was the definition of evil. Escaping twice from prison and killing more people was the biggest WTF moment. But those things the judge said to him made me speechless...
