Yeah, I noticed that for even non-arena shows. I think that's just the new ways of ticketing. Sometimes you might get lucky with a "face value" ticket in the initial on sale and sometimes you might be a "face value" ticket that then drops closer to the date, similar to airlines. I'm sure this tour will still go clean given it's only 10-11 dates but some over-pricing probably resulted them unable to put out a "OMG TOUR SOLD OUT ON DAY 1" hysterical press release.

LA night two seems to be the only mistake.

I know it’s premature to say since these shows are 8 months away but that LA night 2 chart right now is embarrassing for being a “2nd night added due to demand”. Does not make it seem like any more adds will happen to this leg.

Doesn't help that virtually every decent seat is marked as platinum. But yeesh.

So..... what we're saying is prices will have to be lowered on dynamic priced tickets for them to sell out?

I feel the system might be working as intended then.

I saw someone defend Taylor's decision to not do dynamic pricing but her average ticket price was higher and her floor was $500 minimum, maybe the optics look better for her saying that even if she charges similar to what a dynamically priced ticket - maybe not. I feel dynamic pricing while awful, does allow there to be a lower face value listed. Pit for example many people got in at the $300 mark.

If dynamic pricing was outlawed I think ticket prices for most acts who would've implemented would just increase honestly. Same with ticketing fees, just there to artificially lower prices instead of being all in by default.

Idk there's a million different factors involved as someone mentioned, it's not just the band so while it sucks there's more to it.

I think most dates except LA day 2 were doing fine though?

I heard it was a 30 second snippet of a demo of a rough draft of a new song but it's acapella. Time to go bankrupt buying the $800 floor tickets.

This is not true. I believe she did sell some VIP packages that were higher, but as far as I can recall, the MAXIMUM price for floor seats was $450. Most floor & lower bowl Eras tickets were priced at $383 and $269. Even with the last minute Ticketmaster drops on this current leg, $450 seemed to be the max face value. So MCR’s tickets at Platinum Pricing are higher than Taylor’s were at face value.

@heymattrick that's crazy! To think that a lot of these tickets are like $400 more than Taylor Swift when comparing the face value.

It is honestly kinda crazy to me that so many people are willing to pay hundreds for a single ticket.

I agree it’s wild, but I understand. At the end of the day, I’m not missing this tour. I refuse to miss the opportunity to see MCR if they’re playing shows, so when push comes to shove, I will pay whatever I have to in order to go to the shows. But not right now - I will wait until prices drop significantly, unless they don’t, in which case at the last minute I will pay what it takes to go. Fortunately for MCR I’ve never had to end up paying over face value.

Again, this supports everything I've been saying but inevitably when this happens for the next big tour we'll go back to the "OMG Ticketmaster/Live Nation are gouging fans" discourse.

The price was a little tough to swallow but after the reunion tour I have full faith they’ll deliver something worthwhile. That show was sick.

The reunion tour setlists definitely made it worth it. The production was good but very simple. I really think they need to go full-in with production and staging on this tour for it to work. If they just repeat the WWWY production that will certainly not be well-received.

The B-stage certainly has me intrigued. They’ve never done that before.

There's no doubt in my mind that the production value of this show is going to be top notch. Especially considering the tour related marketing materials have been high quality so far.

    And yet...

I understand the rage/disappointment/whatever at the prices, but the tour is basically sold out. Any discussion of any aspect of the routing/planning being a failure is goofy (especially any talk over a second date not selling out right away 8 months out).

Lol why are they lying? I can literally see San Francisco non resold tickets that are still available, i've been following it waiting for a price drop.

It’s awfully bold of them to make a post saying Sold Out when it’s quite literally not sold out. There are plenty of non-resale tickets available. You can go on Ticketmaster right now at any date and look. Even the caption is contradictory by saying there’s still tickets to LA available.

Most of these venues are at around ~300 platinum tickets left out of 40k tickets or so. It's essentially sold out. Artists claim sell outs all the time when platinum is all that's left. They'll very clearly sell right away if/when the prices adjust (and possibly prior). This isn't a MCR exclusive move.

Ahh, so that's the new move...allow 40% of your tickets to be marked up as Platinum then you can say it's sold old even if there's not tickets sold! Are we really saying "because everyone else is doing it" that we can't call it out for what it is? A blue dot on Ticketmaster is a blue dot to me. There's also a fuckton of pink dots, for whatever that's worth.

Like, I'm not trying to say this tour is selling poorly by any means (it's not...except for LA night 2), but it's just a straight up lie either way.

Yes, marketing is based on lies and exaggerations. That is correct. My issue here is stuff like "40% of your tickets as platinum". It's overly dramatic and obviously false. Again, we're talking roughly 300 tickets per venue remaining in stadiums. Marketing is goofy. It's stupid. This is nothing new and I get the eye rolling.
